Mathematics of the cyclotron
Mathematics of the cyclotron The centripetal force is provided by the transverse magnetic field B, and the force on a particle travelling in a magnetic field (which causes it to curve) is equal to Bqv. So, (Where m is the mass of the particle, q is its charge, v is its velocity and r is the radius of its path.) Therefore, v/r is equal to angular velocity, ?, so And, the frequency Therefore, This shows that for a particle of constant mass, the frequency does not depend upon the radius of the particle's orbit. As the beam spirals out, its frequency does not decrease, and it must continue to accelerate, as it is travelling more distance in the same time. As partic   more ...

laser construction
A laser is constructed from three principal parts: An energy source (usually referred to as the pump or pump source), A gain medium or laser medium, and Two or more mirrors that form an optical resonator.         Pump sourceThe pump source is the part that provides energy to the laser system. Examples of pump sources include electrical discharges, flashlamps, arc lamps, light from another laser, chemical reactions and even explosive devices. The type of pump source used principally depends on the gain medium, and this also determines how the energy is transmitted to the medium. A helium-neon (HeNe) laser uses an electrical discharge in the   more ...

Dating!!!
Want to know more about how dating is done??? ???????????? ? ? ? ? ? ? RADIOCARBON DATING: How Carbon-14 is MadeCosmic rays enter the earth's atmosphere in large numbers every day. For example, every person is hit by about half a million cosmic rays every hour. It is not uncommon for a cosmic ray to collide with an atom in the atmosphere, creating a secondary cosmic ray in the form of an energetic neutron, and for these energetic neutrons to collide with nitrogen atoms. When the neutron collides, a nitrogen-14 (seven protons, seven neutrons) atom turns into a carbon-14 atom (six protons, eight neutrons) and a hydrogen atom (one proton, zero neutrons). Car   more ...

Electrostatics
Conductors in Electrostatic Fields In general a conductor can be defined as a region in space where charges are free to move (e.g. a metal). In a static situation the charges don?t move. This implies that there is no field within then conductor. Thus, inside a conductor: E (r) = 0 f (r) = constant; i.e. the conductor is an equipotential volume. At the sur face of a conductor the field (E) nearby the surface is not zero. In order for the excess charge at the surface of the conductor to be in equilibrium, the field vector MUST be normal to the surface. Thus, at the surface of a conductor: En (r)  is not zero. Et (r)  = zero f (r)   more ...

The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned hissituation:Dear Son,I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant mypotato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden because yourmother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be diggingup a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over.I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in prison.Love,DadShortly, the old man received this telegram: "For Heaven's sake, Dad, don'tdig up the garden   more ...

check dis poem out...!
A local newspaper ran a competition asking for a rhyme with the mostromantic first line... but the least romantic second line. Here are someof the entries they received.I thought that I could love no otherUntil, that is, I met your brother.Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.Oh loving beauty you float with graceIf only you could hide your face .Kind, intelligent, loving and hot; This describes everything you are not.I want to feel your sweet embraceBut don't take that paper bag off of your face.I love your smile, your face, and your eyes -Damn, I'   more ...

destructive habits
7 Destructive Habits of Unsuccessful People     WARNING! If you want to have a fantastic life, never engage yourself in these 7 deadly habits that incompetent people do.   Number 1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things. Yup. They see problems in every opportunity. They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair. They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.   Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes. They become discouraged easily   more ...

control on your life
Hi dear   Taking control of your life is getting in touch with your values, setting meaningful goals and identifying your vision. To be in control of where life is taking you means being more productive, dealing more effectively with stress, having the ability to solve problems, handing change and developing healthy optimism. Start with these 7 steps and you are on your way.     1. Get in touch with your values:   When we feel like we are working hard but not getting anywhere it is probably because our priorities are not aligned with our values. To begin identifying your values ask yourself these questions: Ø What is important to me?   more ...

Cape of good hope and Philip Wood-very interesting!!!
The weather at the Cape of Good Hope makes it a notorious location where many ships have been lost to the sea. Philip Wood, the famous diver, has discovered four ships that sank in the same spot, one on top of each other. With some skill, Philip was able to determine the name, captain, cargo, destination and year each ship was built. The question is, can you? 1. During his first exploration of the site, Philip determined there were four ships - the Red Rover, the ship built in 1743, the ship captained by Quigley and the ship carrying tea that was bound for North America.2.The ship that carried a cargo of saffron was built after the ship that carried a cargo of tea   more ...

Geometrical permutations
Geometrical permutations     If n pts. are given, then no. of straight lines(if no 3 pts. are collinear) is  nC2.   If out of n pts., m are collinear, then no. of straight lines is nC2 - mC2 +1.   No. of triangles formed from n pts.(no 3 pts. are collinear) nC3.   No. of triangles formed from n pts., when m are collinear is nC3 ? mC3.   If a polygon has n sides, then no. of diagonals is [n(n-3)]/2.   No. of Parallelogram in 2 systems of parallel lines(m parallel lines in first, n parallel lines in second) is nC2 * mC2. age of universe part-1(according to modern science)
The Age of the Universe The age of the earth and the universe is of crucial importance to cosmological theories, and of intense popular interest as well. Enough data have accumulated since the early 18th century that we may now critically and objectively attempt to determine whether there's a fundamental underlying relation affecting time itself. II. Data 1644: Hebrew scholar Dr. John Lightfoot (1602-1675), Vice-Chancellor of the Cambridge University constructed a chronology of history from Biblical genealogies. He calculated that the world was created at the equinox in September of 3298 B.C., at the third hour of the day (9 A.M.). He didn't specify the par   more ...

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN INDIA
The educational system in India has faced a basic dilemma ever since its introduction by the British. India suffers from very low literacy as compared to other developing countries. Yet one gets to hear about the tremendous impact that Indian doctors, engineers and scientists have had around the world. This conveys the impression that the Indian schooling system works. I believe that that impression is wrong and that in fact the Indian school system is inefficient and biased against the poor.   As put up by someone, one of our club members, ?India is heading towards a foreign based culture & so is the education. We are modifying the current system suit ex   more ...
