WELL WIKIPEDIA SAYS.................
........ chemical reaction is a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to another. reactions can be either spontaneous, requiring no input ofenergy, or non-spontaneous, often coming about only after the input of some type of energy, viz. heat, light or electricity.
(chemistry) A change in which a substance (or substances) is changed into one or more new substances; there is only a minute change, Δm, in the mass of the system, given by ΔE=Δmc2, where ΔE is the energy emitted or absorbed and c is the speed of light.
IUPAC GOLDBOOK SAYS....................
chemical reaction
BLUE GENE SAYS...............
A CHEMICAL REACTION IS A PROCESS IN WHICH ONE ( OR MORE) SUBSTANCES GETS CONVERTED INTO ONE ( OR MORE) SUBSTANCES UNDERGOING A PROCESS........now the kind of process it undergoes varies according to the conditions ..u can get the idea of processes by above definitions!!..
Chemical reaction = chemical change
So what is changed?
Chemical properties are changed.
What is a chemical property?
The property of substance by virtue of its molecular shape, arrangement of electrons between the atoms.
Simply in a chemical reaction, the chemical identity or chemical compostion of substances is going to be changed.
Whereas in a physical change, there is only change in physical properties. There is no change in the composition of the substance. For example, conversion of liquid water to water vapour is a physical change. The composition of water, H2O is not altered.
Ok?
