WHAT IS INTEGRATION 1/LOGx dx?
Asked in Lucknow at 3:11 PM on April 02, 2008
integrate using "integration by parts ".
write logx as logx . 1
and using ILATE rule ( inverse, log, algebraic, trigo, exponential in order of preference) we choose log x as first function and 1 as second function.
UVdx = UV dx - [ (dU/dx)(Vdx) ]
thus
logx.1 = logx1dx - [ d(logx)/dx . 1.dx ]
= x.logx - [ (1/x) .(x) ]
= x.logx - x + C
