When the current is switched on, at t=0 we have varying current. Thus an electromagnetic force F=BIL acts on the wire. Here B is the magnetic field intensity, I is the current and L is the length of the wire................Due to this force the wire starts moving. As soon as the wire starts moving, the frictional force comes into play. Also due to its movement an induced emf is set up in the circuit(from flemings right hand rule the direction of this emf is opposite to the original emf source)...........thus the movement of the wire is opposed, and it comes to a stop...................now F*L = uMgx.........thus x=FL/(uMg)
