A molecule or an object is said to be chiral or dissymetric, if it is not superimposable on its mirror image and the property of non-superimposability is called chirality.
On the other hand, a molecule or an object which is superimposable on its mirror image is called achiral ( symmetric or non-dissymetric)
Alphabet letter P is chiral, if we see its mirror image it appears as q; while A is achiral as its mirror image is also A.
Our left hand and right hand are mirror images of one another, they are non-superimposable, you can try it.
Similarly, a molecule with four different groups attached to carbon is chiral( like lactic acid, 2-chlorobutane, etc.), its mirror image is not superimposable on the object, no matter how we turn and twist the molecule without breaking the bonds. ( if you have models you can try it yourself)
