Acyclic unsaturated hydrocarbons containing a triple bond are called Alkynes or Acetylene, there general formula is CnH2n-2, where n= 2,3,4,etc.
If both the double and triple bonds are present, such compounds are named as derrivatives of alkynes rather than alkenes, and while writing their names, the terminal 'e' from suffix 'ene' is dropped. The numbering of the parent chain in such compounds is done from that direction which is nearer to the double or triple bond, i.e., lowest locant rule for multiple bonds is followed. If however, there is a choice in numbering, the double bond is always given preference over the triple bond.
