I am totally confused in this question pleez help somebody....urrgent.....A sample of Mg burnt in air to give MgO and Mg3N2. The ash was dissolved in 60 m eq HCl & resulting solution was back titrated with NaOH. 12 m eq of NaOH were required to reach the end point. The excess NaOH was then added and solution distilled. The ammonia released was trapped in 10 m eq of second acid solution. Back titration of this solution required 6 m eq of base. calculate % Mg burnt to nitride.

Let meq of MgO and Mg3N2 are x and y respectivly.From first datax+ y = 60-12 = 48Three meq of Mg2N3 will give 1 meq of NH3 Soy/3 = 10-6 = 4So y = 12 and x = 48-12 = 36So 12*100/48 = 25% Mg was burnt to nitride
