Concentration & hard work are key to Crack IIT- INTERVIEW WITH AN IITIAN
Engineering Entrance , JEE Main , BITSAT , JEE Advanced , academic

1.) Tell us about you? What are you doing currently?

I am Rachit Tripathi, doing my four year Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. My keen interest is in Robotics. I like Physics and an avid soccer player.

2.) When did you start thinking about IIT ?

I was in 10th standard when my parents came up and discussed about IIT. It was that discussion which changed the course of my life. While in school, my teachers have been a constant support and always encouraged me to opt for IITJEE entrance exam.

3.) Which books did you follow during your IITJEE preparations?

Well, I guess books are the same which every IIT aspirant follows. I didn't go out for any special edition. I would like to suggest that one should not at all ignore NCERT book. Other than that I followed HC Verma for Physics, A Das Gupta for Mathematics and Balaji Publications for Chemistry.

4.) Have you taken any coaching? Do you thing coaching make a major impact in cracking IIT?

Honestly, i didn't go out for any IIT preparation coaching. I did use to go for separate coaching classes for Physics, Chemistry and Maths but not for IIT. Mine was a self study method. Teachers did refer books for the preparation but no spoon feeding was done.

5.) Did you join any test series ?

Yes I joined FIITJEE test series.

6.) How many hours did you give to your studies daily ?

Past two years were dedicated to my IIT preparation. I studied for my boards in the last month. Everyday 3-4 hours were devoted so as to crack JEE examination.

7.) On which subject you give more stress and why ?

I gave more attention to Maths and Chemistry because Physics is my favorite subject hence it is also my area of expertise.

8.) What do you think is the secret of your success?

I don't have a success mantra or a secret. You can say that my parents have been my motivation and the support of the teachers, my encouraging factor. I was very clear that there is no magic wand that will help me crack IIT entrance. Sheer hard work is the key to success and that is what I followed.

9.) Any advice to our readers? What tips you want to share with our readers ?

I would just advice them to concentrate on their studies. Follow what your teacher's say. Casual attitude is not good. Just keep one thing in mind that IIT is no rocket science. Hard work and dedication will make you crack an IIT examination with a good rank.
