I myself am totally against reservations but NIT is a contagious issue as these colleges do have a long and chequered background and I can see many state governments protesting if the reservation was cancelled.!

I just want to bring to ur notice that NITs have notjing to do with states there is no state funding there r only two fundings one by central government of 50 crores and other by world bank of 20-25 crores.They were state funded when they were RECs .

even iit roorkee which was rorkee univ .............has a long history it was built up by our state gov....but we don hav ny state quotqa dere...............why r dos called national level intitutes if we havn't got equal ryts dere..........we don hav ny nnit or ny college of national repute here........
