Hello, I'm from VIT and I've noticed quite a few threads with posters who seem bent on maligning my institute - posters who have no idea, who've never been to VIT and those who repeat the same lies which have been passed on from one person to another without anyone bothering to verify these claims.I wouldn't have started this thread, but a friend of mine notified me of the alarming rate at which the number of prospective candidates were dwindling because of these rumours. My message to the students who were dissuaded from joining - Do not make a foolish decision guided by students who aren't in VIT in the first place. What do they know of the ins

Dude have you gone mad or what . At present VIT has no standing infrom or IIT , BITS and any of the 20 NIT's . You made the wrong choise and have ruined your carrer by joining this dammm college ...

VIT University (formerly Vellore Institute of Technology) is a private coeducational university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. The university was founded by Mr. G. Viswanathan in 1984 and is currently its chancellor. VIT was affiliated to the University of Madras until 2000. It is one of the most famous private colleges in India The institute was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College by Mr. G. Viswanathan, a former Member of Parliament and Minister in the Government of Tamil Nadu. The college was then affiliated to the University of Madras and functioned as a private self-financing institution. It was promoted by the North Arcot Educational and Charitable Trust. In 2001, the institute was awarded the deemed university status by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and hence the name was changed to Vellore Institute of Technology. In September 2006, it was renamed as VIT University as per a new decree issued by the University Grants Commission enabling deemed universities to change their name to 'university'[1]. Some of its technical courses have been accredited by Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK.[2][3]

VIT University is quite popular among students for it's serene campus. It has one of the best architectured buildings and well maintained campus. The University is divided into Schools based on the streams. On an average, each School has 2 Professors (Phd holders) and 3 Associate Professors. Although vit is a known name among budding engineers because of the propaganda by management, Vit spends a quater of their revenue in the publicity of the college. The placement of the college is falling every year. In year 2007 although in other mediocre colleges like VIT had on an average two jobs per student, but vit had less than 70 percent of their students placed. Although the college had given manipulative statistics through good marketing. VIT is able to get good crowd in its entrance exam but the topper of VITEEE generally take admissions in other good colleges. VIT University boasts of various research programmes being conducted in the campus.

We need to bring this fact in front of UGC and da people of the country.....
We need to fight wid the VIT's (so-called No.1 Private Engineering College) management....
We can even write to UGC and AICTE....
