AND ALL OF US SHOULD KNOW SUMTHG.......APART FRM PPL WHO R HERE FOR FUN....THERE R PPL WHO TAKE THESE THGS VERY SERIOUSLY...SUM EVEN START GETTING DEPRESSED...ALL THIS CUT OFF AND RANK THING IS GOING ON EVR SINCE JEE HAS ENDED.......MANY PPL MUST HAV SURELY MESSED UP ODER EXMZ DUE TO AL THIS...SO ATLEAST NOW THIS SHUD B STOPPED.........

very right.....sorry for wat i said...but see all those who get depressed ..should improove their mental structure..anybody says something they get depressed...why?..acc. to my opinion this depression arises when they have not performed as well they thought they can do before the exam.....they must have overestimated their efforts....so, it isd all about expecting that yes i worked for this much only and i got this much only....i firmly believe this.....

wel..i dont agree with you.....mr fardewaals.....actually results are still not out...so u cant say wat i hav done i hav got tht...abhi aapko kuch mila nahi hai...its only ppl here who hav started deciding...ki kiska cut off par hoga kiska nahi...c this is my point.....ho sakta hai tht u feel according to ur score tht u wil make it 2 iit ...but eventually u dont...ye bhi ho sakta hai...u tel sum xyz ki aapka cut off par nahi hoga..and he gets in...luk i m not a fake person...i know thgs lik tht hav happened!!!!!.......my batch mate (a very bright student) calculated his score in iit last yr..it turned out 2 b..250....but when he got the result...he wasnt selected.....and he got his score card which said his score was 108...he is in bits......he got around 94% in 12th boards and topped kanpur when he was in 10th........so there are slips which can take place wid ne1...nd about the cut off thg.......tabhi bat karni chahiye uski if u hav entire knowledge bout it....i think i hav cleared the issue......all d best 4 d results.....

i believe in sumthg...IF WAT U SAY CAN INFLUENCE SUM1....BE CAUTIOUS WHILE U SAY THGS....AND ONE MORE THG.......NO BODY WIL ASK U WAT WAS UR EXPECTED SCORE OR WAT WERE PEOPLE ON GOIIT SAYING ABOUT YOUR SCORE.....WAT EVRY1 LUKS AT ARE THE RESULTS...AUR WO TO KISI SE NAHI CHUPTA....SO IF U HAV DONE WEL KEEP IT 2 UR SELF...IF U HAVENT...THEN WORK 4 D NEXT...GOD WIL PAY BACK UR EFFORTS IN SUM OTHER WAY..

CIC asks IIT to disclose cut-off

NEW DELHI: The Central Information Commission has directed IIT Kharagpur, which conducts the joint entrance exam for the engineering courses, to furnish all the details regarding cut-off marks and the procedure to reach to the cut-offs, the model answer sheet and so on by May 15 to a candidate, Eklavya's parents.
The Information Commissioner has mentioned in the direction the judgement of the Delhi High Court, which upheld the judgement of the CIC in the UPSC exams case. The Commissioner asserted that now in the matter of exams there is no ambiguity, and the authority conducting the exams has to furnish relevant information.
Eklavya, a candidate who appeared for the joint entrance test, felt he did not want to live his whole life with the stigma of "not having qualified" in the IIT JEE, without knowing exactly where he was wrong. He said he had done his papers well, finally scored excellent marks, but had no rank on the merit list.
Eklavya believes he is out of the merit list not due to his own mistake but due to the faulty system of the prestigious Joint Engineering Examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
An analysis throws up the startling fact that the students who get admission through JEE and have qualified may not be better than the ones rejected. This seems to be more true in recent times.
A well-placed IIT source said: "There are many flaws in the system. Crucial decisions like individual subject cut-off have no logical or statistical basis. The system has no transparency. Neither the model solution nor the evaluation scheme is made public. In the name of black-box confidentiality, the system has many flaws and can have traces of malice as well."
To elucidate, consider the marks of two candidates (names changed):
Arjun: Physics ? 50; Mathematics ? 51; Chemistry ? 73; Total ? 174. Qualified
Eklavya: Physics ? 104; Mathematics ? 75; Chemistry ? 52; Total ? 231. Did not qualify.
There are many thousand students who have been declared qualified by scoring as low as 30 marks out of 184 in Mathematics and 42 marks out of 184 in Physics along with Arjun. However, Eklavya did not qualify despite scoring more than twice the marks in Mathematics and Physics (subjects most needed for most of the engineering disciplines), and a total score which is higher - by a huge margin - than many thousands of the candidates that qualified.
Each single mark changes the score considerably. Eklavya may be among those very few candidates who have been declared "not qualified" in spite of scoring good marks (above 50) consistently across all the three subjects. His marks in Mathematics and Physics may place him among the top 100.
After the CIC direction, the IITs now have to satisfy Eklavya on why he has not qualified. The whole basis of rejecting Eklavya, says sources, is hugely varying cut-offs in different papers. The IIT source said that there was no fixed procedure or technique of deciding the cut-off marks.

Showcause to IIT
New Delhi, May 8: IIT Kharagpur has been showcaused by the Central Information Commission for not providing a professor with information on its entrance examination within the time permitted by the Right to Information Act.
IIT teacher Rajeev Kumar had asked the institute in September for the procedure followed in deciding the physics, chemistry and mathematics cut-off marks for the IIT JEE.
According to the law, a government body can take a maximum of 45 days to provide an information.

hi zenith....thx 4 dis hugeeee article of yours...i also feel there is a lack of transparency in the iit system...and thats RIDICULOUS...i also feel tht they shud give ranks to all the students...pata to chale who stands where.....they should properly explain their messy rank procedure system......
