hi ginny...listen brother..if u cant drop.....and u cant do bsc..the only option wid u is join watever collg u can get...apne sare options ko dhyan mein rakho ki tumhe kaun sa collg mil sakta hai...and work hard in ur collg......har collg ki avg placement achi ho ya na ho but topper ki better hi hoti hai...try 2 b d topper wherever u join..my..best wishes 2 u

NOW...I M GOING 2 JOIN HBTI THIS YEAR..U MUST HAV HEARD OF IT...AND IF NOT.....I WIL TEL U SUMTHG....ITS 86 YRS OLD COLLG....A COLLG OF GR8 REPUTE IN U.P....COMPARABLE 2 NIT ALLAHABAD....NOW IF U LUK AT ITS INFRA.....OH GOD.....MISERABLE.....PLACEMENTS ETC ARE GUD HOWEVER....SO Y DO U THINK SO THTS THE CASE.....THE REASON BEING....THE GOV. DOESNT GIVE ENUF FUNDING 2 EVEN SO SO OLD AND REPUTED COLLGS LIK HBTI.....ILASTLY ..IF MAINTAINING THE SITE IS THE CRITERIA...GO 4 VIT.....VIT ROX......
AND YES MADDY SIR...ONE MORE THING......U SHUD C THE PRESENT AND NOT GUESS WAT THE FUTURE OF SUCH NIT'S WIL B...

what do u prefer.....Getting a college with lesser calibre and doing something u like and doing it for the rest of ur life or a "BRANDNAME" on ur resume and doing something u hate ??
i mean ..... i know IIT is mahaaaaaaaaan....its great......its worth taking even if u get comps anywhere else.....but the last line is DEFINITELY NOT TRUE......branch vs insti......BRANCH WINS !! if u ask me

P.S : what have u to say about BITS btw ?

hey ramya, i respect ur views... but m nt with u...

no doubt the institutes which we knw as NITs these days, were REC's some few yrs back... they may not be as gud as IITs... (undoubtedly).. but still they have got a reputation.. agreed, hamirpur, or jalandhar may not be too gud ones, but still, allahabad, bhopal, jaipur, nagpur are the top ones,( ofcourse including trichy, warangal and surathkal ).... they are also old cllgs... and as far as faculty is concenrned... even IITs have lack of that... !!!! plus thr are not just 4500 genius in the country, whom we all knw as IITians...there are much much more than that.... nt everyone can be an IITian... and i think, for all those, who couldnt get into iits... shud go for nits..they still arent that bad as u have said.....

and u were talking about thapar.... also jaypee is in the same category.... i agree they are gud... much much better than NITs... but the most imp thing that u have overlooked, here is the fees they charge... thapar charges round 1.5 lakhs a yr, while NITs cost even less than half of that.... what u have to say about that????? plus they are the govt cllg... not any private cllg.... HBTI is gud.... but pls dnt compare Thapar with NITs.... both stand apart....

all this is a personal opinion..nothing against anyone!!!!

nit rest areeeeeeeeeeeee not so good not so bad.........

according to ranks one has to compromise..............

if you are high ranker than compromise with branch for a good college.................

but if your rank is low then i say compromise with college as all nit are same later or even private are worse(not bits)

so then go for good branch......................................

Hello Ramya, i ahv smthin to tell u......if smone wants to go frm Delhi 2 Mumbai in a train.wat will be better, to catch a good superfast train in a IInd class compartment or a slow bad train in a Ist class AC compartment........u understand wat i mean?????? so i partially agree wid u.......but if some1 is not getting the ticket he has to travel in the bad slow train.......

slow train- NITs
good train- IIT
Ist class AC compartment- good branch
IInd class compartment -bad branch

Hey Ramya look u'll be a engg. after four years thats in FUTURE not in Present ! A branch which is today very Good (job prospects) may not be having job requirments in nxt 5 yrs...This is because INDIA is growing tremendously...Anybody thot tht India would be a IT Major 15 yrs bak ? even 10 yrs bak u heard of Infosys or TCS ??

As for the Website All NITs except the few good ones have the most ordinary websites but the catch - all the websites are developed at the respective NIT and serviced from their own servers. All Pvt Institue Like VIT have a Private Firm which takes care of their website.

And Yes for NIT Hamirpur
IIT Kanpur CSE Department Professor Dheeraj Sanghi Says that NIT Hamirpur is in the Top 6 college for CSE

The example of train is a good one
different trains But same Place generally after 4 years (GENERALLY )

I kno a guy passout from IITK in minning got a job in IBM but where does the BRAND IITK is ? when a guy from a state coll sits next to him in same position. Agreed that Brand IIT is just Great But Hard Work and Skills fetch u Better Jobs not the IIT Tag (tho sure it helps a lot ).

Look I live in Jabalpur And the JEC (Jabalpur Engg. Coll) is Ranked 46 out of the TOP 50 Govt. institute in India by Outlook.
But the fact is that NO local ppl wanna get there becuz there is not even a single professor there to teach in ECE dept.
Its only the repute which is driving it (its 60 yrs old,oldest in central india) Some Colleges cannot just grow with time.
So u c govt institute can never be always good

i never meant tht jus go 4 any branch if u get a very gud collg.....even if its IIT ....a pulp and paper branch is not suggestible....

HOW MUCH DO V STUDENTS KNOW ABOUT A PARTICULAR BRANCH .....??? ITS JUS ABOUT MINDSET THT PPL GO 4 COMPUTERS NOW....AND THEY MIGHT HAV NOT GONE 4 IT A FEW YRS BACK....LUV AND HATE 4 A BRANCH IS JUS A MINDSET NTHG ELSE...COZ U CAN BUILD A OPINION ONLY WHEN U KNOW THE ENTIRE THG....WATS THE TROUBLE WID CIVIL...OR MINING...OR PETROLEUM....WATS IN IT THT MAKES U HATE IT...WATS IN AERONAUTICS THT MAKES U HATE IT......TEMME THT....AND I SAID A COLLGE IS A MORE PREFFERABLE THG...ONLY BCOZ...IF THE COLLG IS GUD...IT PROVIDES U A GUD ATMOSPHERE...HELPS UR PERSONALITY GROW...MAKES EFFORT 4 GETTING BETTER COMPANIES RECRUIT THEIR STUDENTS....
