Players play sports to entertain people but if the people themselves are having no interest in the sport , then what is the need for it. So hockey should now be stopped

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

this situation and this loss would never have happened if people didn't totally almost ignore the hockey... without encouragement and due to mounting frustration abt not receiving fame they deserve...they're bound to lose. we don't see them getting so much coverage when they win compared to what they get when they lose!!!!!!!!
and cricket is sooooo boring!!!!!!
(my view )

Joaquim Carvalho, India?s national hockey coach is angry and understandably so. His team plays amazing hockey, ends up beating South Korea (for the cricket fans, Korea is a top four team and a 2007 World Cup semi-finalist) twice, the second time in the final, inflicting upon them the humiliation of a 7-2 defeat. It also beats China (Asian Games silver medalist) and Japan (a rising Asian power). Carvalho?s boys are unbeaten in the tournament and for the first time in many years actually show glimpses of what attacking hockey can achieve. But the fairy tale story ends there. India wins, says thank you to the packed Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, takes the trophy and goes home. Television channels quickly put together one-hour shows and don?t call the players; they call Shahrukh Khan and ask him if he contributed to the victory. Shahrukh Khan doesn?t turn up at Chennai to watch the Indian team but says they did well on the phone to television channels. King Khan does turn up at the Wanderers to cheer the cricket team and also walks down to the ground (with his six-pack) to hug the cricket players (cricket stars). Frankly, that is all well. Shahrukh has the liberty to choose which stadium he wants to go to. Hockey with its speed, goals could have been a top of the line product. But it has been severely limited by the minds that work on it. The IHF is led by a man who can barely keep himself awake at press conferences; it has a secretary whose vision can?t extend beyond Chennai and ensuring that he somehow remains in power; it has players across the country who can?t come together on a common platform; it doesn?t even have a marketing wing!!!
Let?s stop comparing hockey with cricket or any other sport. Let?s look inwards and for God?s sake, do some introspection, IHF. The day hockey stop relying on government officials do give away freebies to the players, hockey or any other sport would have truly arrived.

i am not having a go at him....besides i am one of his fans.I dont think he shld promote the game bcoz it's his wish....but if the Govt had taken necessary steps to encourage and give enough publicity to the national game then the present situation wouldn't have arosen.

IHF Chairman KPS Gill should resign. Reason: From 1928 to 1956 India won the golds consecutively. Then in 1964 and in 1980 also. Total: 8 golds, 1 silver 2 bronze. Under the chairmanship of KPS Gill (since 1994 to present): 1996- 7th, 2000- 7th, 2004- 8th 2008- not qualified. So poor results but not willing to admit, and the coach resigns after one. Moreover India(6th seeded) finished 11th in the 2007 world cup in which 12 teams played!!!
