WHEN WATER IS NOT FLOWING let speed of boat=V speed of flow=0 let width of river=d total time taken= d/V WHEN WATER IS FLOWING WITH VELOCITY U time taken to cross the river =d/Vcos$ where $ is the angle which V makes with vertical direction i e with perpendicular direction to tht of flow of water this situation shouid satisfy for $ Vsin$=U so sin$=U/V total time taken during still day=2d/V total time taken during rough day= 2d/Vcos$ obviously 2nd 1 is gr8ter then first hence answer is 1
