for ethanol to 1 butyne...1 easy method...
first react with SOCl2....to form ethyl chloride...then CH=C-Na (triple bond b/w C and C)
this can easily form 1 butyne..

treat ethanol with ZnCl2 and HCl to get chloroethane
now carry out wurtz reaction to get butane
halogenate it with ZnCl2 and hcl to get chlorobutane
treat it with alcKOH TO GET BUTENE
halogenate butene with cl2 and ccl4 to get 1,2-dichlorobutane
treat it with alcKOH TO GET 2CHLOROBUTENE
TREAT IT WITH NaNH2 U WILLGET BUTYNE

take ethyne+ NaNH2=acetylide ion
combine with CH3 Br but-1-yne is formed!
for bromo methane-> propanone,,
bromomethane + ethanal + hydrolysis-> 2 degree alcohol ->oxidise using KMnO4
propanone is formed!!!!!!
