hi guyz.. maybe u have seen the enormous sucess of the inorganic thread...so, i'm starting this here....

all we have to do is keep on posting new quesns after giving answers to previous ones.....even if the answer is known to u..

let me start wid the quesn...

bacteria also produce ATP like eukarya..

and it also uses proton gradient for converting ADP to ATP ...

mitochondria pumps it into the perimitochondrial space...

my quesn is.. where does the bacteria pump the H+ ions from its matrix....

options will be given 2morow if no one is able to answer....

tejas was the one who got closest.

answer is ethylene !!!!!!

why?? okay.. in aquatic plants, ethylene is not able to diffuse out of the plant.. so, its concentration inside the plant increases...

now, ethylene inhibits absicssic acid synthesis ...

and absissic acid is the major anti-gibberelin in the plant..

now.. ABA is inhibited.. so, gibberelin can act more freely....

so, answer is ethylene. it is due to increase in conc. of ethylene and not gibberelin which helps in this.....

i'm really surprised NCERT said this.. it only said ethylene  helps in internodal elongation in deep water rice plants... i also wondered why..

If the size of a fertilized egg of frog is compared with the size of its blastula and gastrula stages, which of the following observations will be correct ? 1. There is a progressive increase in size from zygote to blastula to gastrula 2. All the three will be of the same size 3. Zygote will be smaller, while blastula and gastrula will be larger 4. Gastrula will be larger, while zygote and blastula will be of same size

hey.. frog blastula develops blastocoel .. so, answer is option 1.. there is progressive increase in the size of egg to blastula to gastrula.. had they asked of morula, then, size of egg and morula is same..... becoz during cleavage divisions, there is no increase in size of the whole thing.. plzz correct me if wrong..

hey anurag, answer is ethylene.. plzz read the reason once and point out any mistake u find...

i have another quesn for the super students of goiit....

which organism did engelman while finding out the absorbtion spectrum in plants ???

that was js for fun(hehe).. here's a better one...

Darwin's theory says unit of natural selection is individual, i.e natural selection operates at individual level...

then, how is that we see altruism in many organisms like bees, ants etc...because altruism doesnt favour the selection of the individual exhibiting altruism.....

i m not sure but i guess it has somthin to do with the adaptations and habitat....considering tht most species of ants and bees hav a common descent and tht they can live only in certain areas tht hav favorable features or a bit adverse conditions wer dey show altruism and tend to stay in these adverse condition.......plzz nudge if somthin is wrng.....

plzz read about kin selection.. this theory will confuse us very much.. according to this, the features like altruism are explained on the basis that though the individuals act selflessly, the alleles are acting selfishly only... the bees and ants show altruism to protect their kins as they share the similar alleles..
