Till last yr there was only one branch "Computers anf Communication Engg" in LNMIIT whose cutoff in aieee was 9246.Chk this:http://ccb.nic.in/CCB2008/OrCr/Engineering/Eng/DJPOrCr.htm

This yr due to capacity expansion  two new branches have been introduced ie Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. So I repeat again these are new branches introduced this yr and there is question of having closing rank of arnd 20k for some branch and 10k in some.Overall cutoff was 9246.

That is the mistake that many people make. Just because a college is older and for the same reason has better companies coming to it as of now which pay a little more to start with on the campus doesn't mean too much.

At the moment, Jaypee is a bit better than Manipal and in the four years ahead you won't even want to compare Manipal to Jaypee. LNMIIT is currently in the same league as these two.

Just for your info, for the recent batch passed out, MS visited JIIT on Women's Day I think and offered 8 lacs to a girl student.

I think Akshay's vision is a lot skewed and he is not even sure about anything... At first, he started with hailing JP Noida as the best of the lot (LNMIIT, JP, Manipal) but later, has come down drastically on his view...

LNM is new (only 2 batches have passed out) so it must be given a chance... And anyway, its seats get filled by ~9000 ranks... so it must be good...

I have always said that LNMIIt JIIT and Manipal are currently in the same league however if you have to choose one of them I would go with JIIT especially considering its future and growth.

LNMIIT had a cutoff of 9k while JIIT had 15k, this was because LNMIIT is through central counselling and had only one course with far lesser seats, else it would have gone to at least 20k too!

okay.. i meant no hard thing to u akshay... but there are many things pointing out that LNM is better than JP...

For one : the Faculty is a lot better... (Czech that out)

Second : The ranking... (though i agree with your view a bit)

Third : The LNM thing is actually a JOINT venture (not entirely Private) between LN Mittal Foundation and Rajasthan Gov..

And one last (but trivial thing) : See the websites of the two : what a difference there is in the appeal (though this is not to be taken as a very good yardstick for measuring the status of a collg.)!!

Faculty could be better at LNMIIT but JIIT has its pros too. The rest points you mentioned are not significant. Even Thapar is not much much better than JIIT or Manipal and LNMIIT doesn't really come close to Thapar. LNMIIT is in the same league, it is not as good as DAIICT either which is again a little better.

I am not saying JIIT is much much better, I am saying at the moment there is not a very big overall different whichever of the two you choose. The descipline and hardwork JIITians go through I doubt many other Indian engg college students face. LNMIIT has its pros, JIIT has it pros, but are decent colleges struggling to come to the top.

I don't know as much about LNMIIT so I can't say how far it will go. I have found more about DAIICT and JIIT so I know their potential. Maybe LNMIIT is capable enough of making it to top 15, but I don't know about it so I can't say.

I am not fighting here. I am just saying both are new upcoming and decent colleges comparable with the oldies like Manipal and have a lot of potential in them. Neither of the two has the same brand image as DCE or Thapar leave alone IIIT or BITS as of now. So all these new instittutes are doing a good job and have a bright future.

Peace!

I disagree

Top/Good NITs>JIIT=LNMIIT>Manipal>Average NITs

NITs which don't make it to the Top 40 are average and they aren't as good as Manipal
