Of Course not.
Its $100,000 , given by Schlumberger given to 5 or so students.
Its a mistake on BITS' part that it didn't write that.
One of the highest domestic salaries I have heard is 14 lpa by Amazon through PS2.

It'll give you an insight about another very imp but rather unknown form of Placement , unique to BITS.

Yeah I've read that.. But IITs also have a very good internship/project program as far as I know..

Well , yes but as I have mentioned its very much different from Internships.
The imp point is that it is another way of getting placed , whose stats you won't find.

Plz tell me what exactly do you mean by "Field" and "Office" jobs ???
I mean we guys never use those terms.
And your data is highly inaccurate espec. about BITS CS/EEE averages and IIT-K CS.

CSE ....EEE.....these r office jobs......
mining .......petroleum.........metallurgy..................these r field jobs.....yaar
and look....WHAT u r talking about the highest placement....given by SCHLUMBERGER....
SCHLUMBERGER IS an oilk company........and what it gives in my college( ISM DHANBAD).....IS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN
BITS ......(THOUGH I M NOT COMPARING)....
AS ....IN ISM ....
PETROLEUM ITSELF A BRANCH .....
SO SCHLUM ....PICKS MANY STUDENTS FROM PETRO ....MINING.......MINERAL......AS IT ITSELF AN OIL COMPANY......
AS IT IS OIL COMPANY ....SO IT GIVES A FIELD JOBS....
THATS WHY .....
IT IS IS GIVEN THE HIGH MONEY
IN ISMU ...IT HAS GIVEN 44 LLACS......
AND
LET ME TELLL U...
ING IS - 9 AM TO 11PM.....
SO ITS A TOUGH JOB....BUT ....
BETTER MONEY ...

ISM is a great place for Petroleum Engg and Mining.And the salary 44lpa or 42 lpa is the same $100,000 given by Schlum at both ISM and BITS.
I got the idea about Field vs Office Jobs.
But Schlum took a CS and Mech student from BITS.Now , how can they be employed in a field job?
I feel that more than field job etc. it is the fact that it is a $ salary which we are (foolishly) converting into Rs.
Cuz all foreign placements are 25 lpa +.
Even Managment Consultancy , Investment Banks etc also offer such huge salaries but they are all office(and Non-engg) jobs.

Well , had they taken Chemical and Mech , that'd be OK , but they have been taking a variety of grads.
Btw , even Shell came to Pilani.Don't know who they took....
