i am 2 thinking the same thing I HAVE ONE YEAR 2 PREPARE MY PHYSICS CONCEPTS ARENT SO GREAT------->ATLEAST I STIL HAVE PROBLEMS IN SOLVING HCV BUT I PERSONALLY FEEL THE BUK BY DC PANDEY IS MORE ORIENTED FOR IIT-JEE

h c v is very gud for concepts and pleasure reading.
d c pandey --new trimmed edition is gud for trimmed theory and unconventional problems. For example. there is hardly anything on Instantaneous axis of rotation in hcv. At least there is one or two para in d c pandey. I m thinking to shift to d c pandey.
But let me say u can't touch d c pandey without reading h c v for 1 year.

there are better books available than HCV...
ya can never be solely dependent on HCV...DCP is better than HCV
in all ways...
there is a book named PHYSICS GALAXY...
i found it 1000 times better than HCV...
though the books isn't popular enough, but the people who have it find it a lot better than HCV...

I am a big fan of MTG's interactive Physics Series .They are very helpful , but it'd be too late to start using now(if u r giving ur exams around this time).
As for topics not covered by IP , HCV is the best.For topics like Fluid Mech. , Thermo etc.

PS: i'm not endorsing or some what this book...
i found it better than HCV, its my opinion.
even if you solve 50% of this book, its more than enough...

HCV is a necessary and sufficient condition for qualifying in IITJEE.. Of course, if you wanna compete for top 500-1000 ranks you'll also have to do something else.. Either Irodov or even FIITJEE questions will do..
