Hello, I'm from VIT and I've noticed quite a few threads with posters who seem bent on maligning my institute - posters who have no idea, who've never been to VIT and those who repeat the same lies which have been passed on from one person to another without anyone bothering to verify these claims.
I wouldn't have started this thread, but a friend of mine notified me of the alarming rate at which the number of prospective candidates were dwindling because of these rumours. My message to the students who were dissuaded from joining - Do not make a foolish decision guided by students who aren't in VIT in the first place. What do they know of the institute they've never been in the first place? One year ago I was in your position. The rumours at that time were of all kinds ranging from how 200 girls got pregnant to 40% of the students are drug addicts. Such nonsense! If VIT was really a college of which provided education of inferior quality, what would be the need to start such rumours? The poor education would be enough to turn the students away.. why these lies?
Regarding bribing India Today: are you really stupid enough to believe that you can bribe a national level magazine without taking any risk? The slightest slip and VIT wouldn't even BE in the list let alone get ranked. Think about it. VIT was ranked at 14 last year.. this year it's at 10. Is it because we paid extra? Heck no! I've been there the whole time.. I've seen the efforts the management took to put it where it belongs.
As a final request - verify your claims before you post them. It would be better for everyone if you posted what YOU found and not repeat what some liar has told over and over again. To the people who aren't attending the counselling even if they got ranks.. think again. You're missing a great chance.

Untill and unless the motive doent change nothing can change..
Nits , iits and bits function on the motive of providing rducation and developing engineering skills of the country while vit functions on the motive of money.. So the motive will never get changed in vit ..
So i say that vit cannot be compared ti nits , iits or bits. Even the worst Nit has a minumum area of 250 acres, get corores of rupees from various agencies like indian govt , ugc , world bank and vit can never evr challenge these facts . The kind of reserches happening in these institutes can never happen at vit because of the large sum of money involved in the reserche swhich can only be paid by the governmnet..
At NIT rourkela which is considered only an average NIt reserches of about 100 crores are going on and remember this is the money which is invested in reserchcs only . Beyond this there are a large no of other fnndings also..
So answer these facts and then compare vit to any other above mentioned institutes...

see first of all dont make all this a very big issue look no doubt iit's bits & nit (not all ) are placed above vit in ranking but dat does not means that vit is a bad college. vit is a good fast emerging college. the campus selection there is also very good .do u all know that vit gives oppurtunity to all of its student to go for campus for their dream company

VIT, on the other hand, rakes in just about any student for money, plays dirty tricks on its so called entrance exam( Many Tamilians pronounce VITEEE in an insulting way) and ultimately fails in student quality. With such a huge management quota and plastered entrance examination, you cannot get a superb student platform for interaction and co-research( which is the very essence of IITs and the sub-likes).

Why do you feel that you have to defend that insti??if its really dat gr8 then these rumours will NEITHER AFFECT YOU NOR UR INSTI!!!

I was talking about reputation in the sense of the magazine. I'll put it in simple words so that you'll understand: If MIT got the 10th place in India Today, people would spread rumours about it. I never said that MIT was a bad college.
Why do you feel that you have to defend that insti?
Because most people take in the words of morons like yourself when you're nothing but a 12th pass out, have no idea about how various engineering colleges function, and ram your opinions down other people's throats discouraging them from joining the college. I really don't care if you join or not. I just don't like watching simpletons spreading lies when they have no idea of what they're talking about, and their judgements are based on the lies they hear.

each and evry guy on this forum knows the reality of vit and some of the most rated members are also saying so sill the stupid moron vitians are trying to defend..
accept it guys that at present i mean at this very moment there is no standing of vit infront of other great engineering colleges of india like iit , nit , bits maybee vit is best and has a 10 rank in country like pakistan but not in india...
