About IITs and JEE
Guys, yesterday Mr. Kapil Sibbal announced that class XII board marks & an Aptitude test will be criteria to entrance into IITs very soon! Of-course JEE 2011 aspirants need to worry yet, because for them nothing changes, but it's only a matter of time when the new system kicks in. JEE 2010 might be a strong candidate for the new format!

Oh the timeline for the new one is not set yet. its going to take atleast 2 yrs to implement (unless the HRD shows some serious action). post corrected to avoid ay confusion for 2011 aspirants. As stated, the timeline is not set yet, but the change is definite now. earlier it was primarily speculation. check this out for confirmation: http://ibnlive.in.com/news/class-12-marks-aptitude-test-for-iit-entrance/130725-3.html
actually a discussion on unifying the boards across the country is also majorly on, in the education circles. this will be a great practice since the numptiple boards have set some really serious discrimination on effort to result ratio (as rightly added by 'flash'). lets keep our fingers crossed. cheers
it is a good idea bcoz it can ,through its aptitude test, eliminate the cramers and muggers of IITs and AIEEE competitive exam... it can also get the concept of text books clear to all rather than running to coaching institutes wasting time and money .
i am from kerala state.my state board is considered to be one of the best in india having a great standard.scoring more than 80 % is a challenging one.i have scored 82%in total and 72% in MPC.i am dropping this year to compete in jee, keam etc.if the government is changing the current pattern it will be the most worst thing to the droppers.we have no money to join other private colleges.the government is arguing that the change is implemnting in order to discourage the coaching institutes. but the government has to remeber one thing,THE IIT'S MUST GET THE INTELLIGENT STUDENTS,NO CAST,NO RESERVATION,NO STANDARD OF FAMILY (MONEY) DOESNOT DETERMINE THE MERIT,HARD WORK OF THE POOR STUDENTS MUST BE CONSIDERED.
buddy at the iit u dont need high fii numericals done for preparing jee but the real part is basic knowledge wich is wat d cbse board does many jee qualified persons just mug up numericals and clear iit jee but fail badly wen their basics are tested at the iit??
its quite impractical due to the regional differences coz each state board has its level of toghness we cant unite the boards also coz then the common exam and the syllabus on the whole would have to be tough (other wise its pointless) this would lead t o drastic decrease in the pass percentage in states like bihar where illetaracy is rampant well this is what i think

Sir i think this will be from 2012 not from this year http://www.telegraphindia.com/1100822/jsp/nation/story_12840087.jsp Please refer this link and clear my doubt
