No.. start with C++. It will give you a base to operate other languages. After learning C++, it will b easy for you to learn Java and C#. If you will start with JAVA then it will be difficult for you to learn the basics which C++ provide very easily. Learning C++ first, will feed you with all logics and answers which you will certainly encounter while learning Java.. I myself learning C++ at the moment and will learn VB next year after JEE.. then I'll come to Java and C#.

I took C++ as an optional in my +2 classes...

Acc to me, you can begin with either C or C++! C and C++ are very much related! C++ is nothing but "C with classes"! So, it's just a modified version of C!

Yes, Java is the toughest! But if you've mastered C++, Java should be not much difficult!

Regarding books, you can start with "Let Us C" or "Let Us C++" by Yashwant Kanetkar! He is a legend and his books are the best to learn programming languages!

You can also visit http://www.dreamincode.net/ for some material on C++ and Java!

Best Wishes! :)
