i m getting cse in bits pilani but in iit my rank is 4222... what shud b my choice?what are the 1)packages and 2)compnies recruiting (in cse)....... wat r teh packages of bits cse of last 5 years???

i think u shud go for iit. no matter wat u get u hav a brand name of iit, bits also has a name but not that great(no offence)

BITS anyday dude...I tuk Comp. Sciene in BITS after getting 1992 in IIT-jee 2k7...
and it was a right decision...the environment in BITS is unparalleled!and branch duz matter...u won't wanna be stuck in a mining field all ur lyf with a brand name of IIT if u're interested in computers...
Incase,u are getting something u really like in iit's at ur rank...say naval engg or something,then choose IIT.otherwise BITS!

See dude...........
I too was in xactly similar state previous year...........though i gt ENI at PILANI..............and gt stuck at an rank of 4700 in JEE.........stilll coz i ws a FRSHER................so i opted the TAG rather than BRANCH...........
I always belive in wht u always want is always one step ahead f wht u get..........
An here i am in IITKGP rockin like a hurricane.........
I knw very well wht decision i took and i am glad THAT WAS THE BEST DECISION IN MY LIFE..........
IVE GIVEN 7 XAMS IN 2007(and i performed well in all xcept JEE)............and coz kwning how TOUGH I PREPARED FR JEE.........i didnt wanted to lose this TAG and oppurtunity OF BEING AN IITian!!!
I WILL SURELY RECOMMEND U IIT rather than nethn............dude just attend counselling the PROF there will telll u "whtever u get in IIT just take it"!!!

1st writing evry line after 6 line spaces won't make ur post more appealing...not will random highlighting....
These things on forums are irritating...
stilll coz i ws a FRSHER................so i opted the TAG rather than BRANCH...........
opting a tag has got nothing to do with being a fresher or not being one...makes no sense!
u myt be rocking lyk a hurricane there but lemme tell u,lyf in BITS is no worse than that at IIT Kgp...have visited it twice!
if packages are ur criteria for choosing a branch@post creator,then CSE at pilani wil definitely get u more than some random branch in an IIT...
As far as tag name goes,my mom keeps asking me-"y didn't I become an IITian??" well...the tag name only counts there...in social gatherings!

Have i ever said life at bits is "worse" than IIT??
Just xposure matters dude..........and ull better knw the fact behind 30%IITians gettin financial and management jobs rather than hardly 8-9% of u bits........

huh..... we all know that iitian tag is very imp........but u seem to be over obessed to prove ur side ture.................in any case BITS cs is way to go

luk who is pitying whom...
and ull better knw the fact behind 30%IITians gettin financial and management jobs rather than hardly 8-9% of u bits........
u don't go an engineering college to do B.arch(ur case) to get a financial/management job!
tag matters...but wats the use wen u stil end up doing IT jobs in bus companies after doing a B.tech in say 'mining'....where ur colleagues are nuts from some champoolal college who probably did their MCA after a 10 lakh scholarship.
For financial and management jobs,u prepare for CAT...n go to an IIM!
U are in the wrong place dude...
P.S-Its not that people in BITS don't go to such companies...but atleast people from core branches get placements in their respective fields as is the case with the 'so called gud branches' in IIT's...I'm not sayin BITS is better than an IIT...which u myt consider to be my point! All I mean is-branch matters...n if u get a preferable branch in an almost as gud an institute...then u shud go for it.
With due respect,if u've take B.arch cause u are interested in designing,then u made the ryt choice....but if u tuk it jus for the IIT tag n hope to get a management job....

the recruting comps.in Bits P (CSE) are adobe, Boston Analytics, Computer Associates, CE Infosys, EKA Software, i2 Technologies, Yahoo,Wipro , Oracle OSSI, Oracle Retail, Oracle ST, Patni Comp., Infosys , Intel, Microsoft, Satyam
the avg. package is 6 Lacs. But the highest package for this yr is 30 lacs..:)
