sir,
i can comfortably get civil and materials and metallurgy at iit Kanpur.
Which of these has more opportunities(monetary)?
In brochure it is given that

"The field of engineering materials has expanded enormously in the recent past
and....".Plz comment on this statement.

materials and metallurgy is an emerging branch but it is mostly research oriented.

civil is also staging a comeback and is going to be very popular. very good oppurtinities can be there soon.

hey

the core will not give u gr8 money in either .. most of the people wud go for jobs in banks etc afterwards .. or in software .. so that way it does not matter..

but i think civil is better .. coz atleast if u want to remain in core there are a few good companies around

hey civil is better choice
last year from mnit allahabad two student got a package of 12 lacs
then u can think doing civil from iit will be a gud choice
if u r getting civil at iitr then u can go there also
