My friend asked me this question and i thought i could have more opinions on this matter.
Hi, what your opinions about IIT Roorkee? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IIT_RoorkeeWhat about its significance and recognition compared to the other IITs and BITS Pilani. Any opinions people?

internationally the IIT stamp is recognised well and far
it doesnt matter wht univ ur from .. unless ur an IITIan, then it's a special bonus tag.
if u want actual better infrastructure then bits pilani is better than roorkee no one can deny that.

Honestly,I have heard many iit professeurs are from iit roorkee..not sure what you can make out of this!?! .

yes i too agree but still do you thinkits worth taking the iits over your favourite course if you can get it in bits?

depends
many ppl take any course at IIT
cos we're free to choose wtever field we want in masters and IIT tag becomes a bonus

for instance my friend might get mechanical or chemical in iit chennai, and he wants mainly csc but is satisfied with mechanical too. If he gets chemical, what do you think he shd do?
Also he is a sure csc candidate in bits!

Arey even the BITSian tag is internationally recognized among foreign universities.
There are plenty of BITS Alumni who have done MS/MBA from abroad.
Infrastructure?
If you are talking about advanced labs and all , they are largely irrelevant for your undergrad studies.
If buildings and beauty , that too isn't at all important.

It depends on him..if he is intereted in the tag and doing something he is not very interested..

compared to the other iit's where does roorkee stand?
my friend says he doesnt bother abt the iit brand! What will be a good compromise btwn the grp of ur choice and the institute
cut offs for roorkee is lower compd to other iit's eccept guwahati. What does this infer?
