Hi I m on the same boat
I got a rank of 3265 in JEE and 334 marks in BITS.
I have also decided to give JEE next year
But I am joining local NIT.
The reason is that you are not able to co op with BITS.
I have talked to the senior
Many of them said they had joined BITS with this sole motive but as the days pass you start enjoying the campus, make frens there and soon JEE thing is forgotten.
So I would advise you to join local NIT so that you can join any coaching there if needed or join test series and give JEE next year in quite strong position.

hello]
you can do it
work hard..............
you have got the caliber.
if you think you can study again the same for 1 more year
if you believe in yourself you can do it
give jee again

if you think you can't waste 1 year then go for bits
think carefully and decide its your life's imp decision
best of uck

i also don't think that this decision is correct
u may be so much absorbed in your study at bits that u may not be able to prepare again for such a tough exam.
another factor may that the pattern may change again.there may be both screening and mains.
the supreme court may also implement the OBC quota. so the no of seats for GE category may reduce drastically.

there are lots of opportunities in polymer science and iitr is very good.
so join it in my opinion

But yes do this only if you have that strong determination to join iit.
I have got this thing to join IIT since beginning so I am taking drop.
But yes if you are a bit reluctant go for BITS
Atleast it wont let you repent.

u should drop only if very determined and confident about urself.

in my opinion u should not even join any college (should study full time for this).

for example last year a guy got iitjee rank 421 but he messed something during counselling and could'nt join iit . so. he joined nit trichy and studied again but this year he got some 800 rank!!! if he had not joined college he would have landed up somewhere in top 50. so the moral is u should prepare only if u r confident otherwise don't expect more.

I agree with 260789.
Best option is to take a complete drop.
Or join BITS. Attendance is not compulsory...even 0% will do. U can study well there.
If the NIT happens to be a stone's throw from your own house in your hometown, maybe NIT is an OK option. U can study from home. U won't be able to prepare for IIT while staying in the College hostel.

However, I am not recommending that u drop out of IIT-R. Stay there & fight it out for a branch change next year.
My reco above holds if & only if u decide to drop out.
