Iit Jee second chance

Hi frnds....

my frnd gave his 12 boards dis yr bt unfortunately he ws unable to get 60% aggregate in PCM. So he is very tensed nw.

If he repears his class 12 n again gives IIT nxt yr. Wil dat chance b considerd as his 1st chance or second chance?

Coz its written in da prospectus dat 1st chance wil b in da yr when a student passes class 12.

Guys plz answer dis question...
