sir,
i m frm patna . nit patn(it) n nit jamshedpur(metallurgy) is available at my aieee rank (28k). but i want 2 prepare 4 iit 09 . will it b possible 2 do both things 2gether if i have 2 do coaching also ? i mean will d college shedule allow me 2 give much time n effort 4 jee . my parents r not very much in favour of dropping but i dont expect 2 get anything gud dis yr . ( as i dont think nit patna is gud) . wat shud i do?

Tell your parents this.
In your life, there is only one and the last opportunity for writing IIT. If you get through in IIT, you are ahead of all those NIT Patna and Jamshedpur fellows by miles. If you do not make it, then you will always improve on your AIEEE score and get a decent score to get in the top NITs like Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad, Bhopal etc.,
Make up your mind and show the conviction that you are going to study sincerely throughout the year. You join classes and forget about these NITs too. Your parents will also agree if you show the right temperament.

thnx a lot my parents r actually doubting abt d uncertainty. but shud i join any nit or shud i completely devote my whole time 4 iit?

Dont join any NITs like Jamshedpur, silchar, etc. Just take a break and study hard. You really need to improve your ranking a lot to be in striking range of IITJEE. As the syllabus difference is very small for IITJEE and AIEEE, you will also improve your rank in AIEEE to get into a decent NIT if you, by bad luck, miss out on IITJEE.

dude, NIT patna is one of the worst NITs
if u dun mind wasting a year,
then go for a drop prepare for IIT
if u dun get IIT ull definitely get BITS
if not BITS ull get NIT W/S/T
if not that then ull get
NIT all/nag/bho which are also good
believe me NIT Patna CSE with 100% scholarship(hypothetically) is worse than wasting a year and getting NIT Nagpur CSE or something

my counselling is on 8th . i m a bit confused over whether 2 attend it . well thnx a lot 2 all u guys . i was really very tensed over dis issue.
