Coolyog,
Polymer Science started only last year ie in 2006. Prakhar's batch wd be the 2nd batch at at IIT-R (Saharanpur). So, how come yr friend is in the 2005 batch of BITS ?
If u r saying that he wrote IIT again at the end of his 1st year at BITS Goa & got Polymer at IIT-R, things fall in place. For him the value addition by joining IIT-R ( sacrifice one year & a branch like EEE to get IIT Brand name) was insignificant.
We r comparing apples with oranges here. Prakhar's case is different. He is a fresher.
Prakhar,
U need to consider the S'pur factor, 5 year course & a new stream angle carefully. It might not be as hot as Process Engg with MBA there. However if u slde up to Mech at BITS-P ( which is quite likely) , Coolyog has a point there. The opportunity cost of leaving BITS-P Mech wd not be something to sneeze at.
