civil or mettalurgical? please help!

i got a rank of 2800 in jee.i can get civil at iit-R, mettalurgical at iit-M.i would like to know about the job prospects of both the courses.is metallurgical engg. research oriented ?,can it give good job opportunities? please help.

As far as I know IIT R is famous for civil
But if you considering packages it usually goes high in metallurgy!!

according to me take civil in iit-roorkee

best is to go for main  stream branches in Guwahati- like chemical--civil and biotech---- as in next 4 yrs u will get a very high ranking for this IIT and then after centralised  placment in iit-- most benefitial will be guwahati-so go for this
