About IITs and JEE
look friends. i am in a dilemma now....let me tell u my story so far this summer...its not been a great summer for me..
Boards : not good (results out on 7th june)
AIEEE: messed it up badly
state CET: not bad (results out on 14th of may)
IITJEE : AIR 4300(approx)
tell me what to do?? i am in a bad mess now...i know my rank is not gonna fetch me anything this year in any of the IITs...i am from pune from an institute called Yukti Educational Services...do i take a drop...shud i take any branch that i get...i feel IITJEE is my only hope...BITS is too costly and the eligibility (80% PCM) is too high for some one like me belonging to the maharashtra state board...so plz tell me what to do...any one frm pune and evn frm YES here(fulform mentioned above)??? plz guide me properly.....any useful comment from any one is assured of a nice rate...ppl from all over the country are welcome to comment...plz help me out of his

cmon' man!!!! tab se har kisi ki Nudge book main ja ke bheek maang raha hoon.....koi toh aage aakar solve karo yaar mere problem ko...its not a complicated irodov mechanics problem or an IMO maths problem that takes some time to crack ur head..its a simple problem of my life...plzzzz sumone on this site???

first of all.. get a grip on urself.. u are not helping anything or anyone by loosing ur cool and getting frustrated and impatient.. just take a deep breath and take things into perspective here..
AIR 4300 is pretty good rank.. thousands of ppl would give up their left arm to be in your position right now.. out of the top 3.2 lakh brains in the country, you managed to get inside the top 1.5%.. so cheer up and rejoice.. thodi party-varty kar yaar.. party karne ke bahane har roz nahin milte.. itni tension kyon le raha hai..
take a look at last year's cutoffs here www.jee.iitb.ac.in/2007/openclose.htm to get an idea of what you'll get.
IIT is a top notch institute.. join anything there.. just do well in whatever course you take and nothing will be able to stop you..
you haven't mentioned bitsat score, so i cant really help you there.. and state cet is always a good option.. and dont count out aieee yet.. you never know.. u may get a great rank there as well..
man, take it easy for a while.. itni tension mat le abhi se.. ull get in someplace or the other.. you've worked hard for 2 years, now is the time to go out and enjoy ur life again.. don't let all this stuff get to you and jangle you nerves.. just let things happen.. im sure they'll work out just fine..
u must be really talented to make it to 4300 rank.............dat means u have substance.......first u tell me if u really wna get into da iits only or nits or any gud state coll thru cet will also do?
dont giv up hope becuz da cet and aieee results r not out.........!!!!!!!
but if u really wna get into da iits only then go for a drop...........dats if ur real serious........then join some gud coching centre in kota............ur sure to get a damn gud reank next year...........all da best to u!
i ges u must take sumthin in IITs,BHU or ISM if u dont get sumthin descent in NIT(trichy,surathkal,warangal) as i dnt think d maharashtra colgs wud b a gud option wit ur rnk in IITJEE.
so wait for aieee rslts nd take a decision........but rmbr IITs,BHU nd ISM r really gud......nd whichever crse u take,if u wrk hard...success wud b urs.......
who said u have to stay with engg? u can opt for iist at trivandrum. or the various iisers. they are pretty gud too. becoz i think that u can get no gud branch in iit. which can spoil ur future.

and wait for aieee results [in any case u have to]
and take admn dis yr coz u neva know wat happens next yr and ya till now i have heard dis much dropping shud be ur last option
and yes as mentioned above u can use loans to go to pilani if u have gud score and if very awesome then they may give some scholarship
and lastly
remember its u who is most worried abt this thing have our opinion as guidance but not as the whole decision and use ur head bfore taking any thing in account try to visualise ur priorities ask urself
will u give a gr8 shot have a place fr any mishap[god forbids] in the next yr if u drop
will u get the support will u be able to hear if some one comments
when u r able to see ur innerbeing then u will also have the answer in ur hands
bottomline is u shud remember u r among iitians and not waste this chance

I've got an AIR of 103, and I really can get almost any course, except probably a computers at Kanpur....
I've been interested in Aerospace Engg and always wanted to do that... still I have been taking advice from many of my elders since the day the results were out.... Nobody really knows the exact job oppurtunities I may be having once I'm out of IIT.... and I don't want to work for something like NASA.... that keeps me in a really gr8 mess......
If I had great riches behind me, my course wouldn't have been a problem, I would have undoubtedly opted for Aerospace Engg, but my career and salary are as important as my interests and I cannot really decide what to take, I need to sacrifice one for the other, and I haven't still decided what....
