Did not attend IIT counseling as was planning to check luck in AIEEE.
But curious to know what got missed.
Could you guys share what did you get with a rank around 3400 in JEE counselling?

Hi, Im Ekansh (Rg. No.4084314) I got 2707in JEE-08(Mech IIT -Hyd.)...
1.Rg No.4084315 got mech. at BHU(AIR 3845) So obviously U cud expect Electrical at BHU
2.AIR 4080 got CIVIL at BHU(Rg No.4070455)
3.AIR 3039 opted fer Bioengineering IIT-KANP.
4.Registration Number 4085271(AIR 3141) has been allotted
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING (B.Tech. 4 Yr) at IIT GUWAHATI
5.Registration Number 4087265 has been allotted (AIR 3142)
METALLURGICAL & MATERIALS ENGG.(M.Tech 5 Yr
Dual Degree) at IIT KHARAGPUR

you didn't jnow even 5400 rank has got selacted for ISMU DHANBAD 2000 more than yours
i myself got electrical at iit patna on 3466 &happy with good branch even if it is new iit

wat i wanna say is u cud have easily got Elec. at BHU( a TOP 10 Coll.) brother,definitely it wud have benifitted u had u gone fer da JEE counselling.. Anyway wats ur aieee rank & bitsat score??(only if u want to share dem)

u cud hv also got Btech Metallurgical at IIT Roorkee.....u made a big blunder dude!!!....dunno knw why??? :o

thr are very few who can dare to leave seat in iit after gettin 3400 rank...ur one of those brave ones....hats off to you...and i must tell u u r no fool...u have used ur head...who wants to do metallurgy for tag...if u have got no interest then wats the use...we indian students need to change our mindset...u have done just dat...iit is not everything....even i did somewhat samething...left a seat in ece in a decent nit...becos i was not interested....tuk up same in pesit,becos i wanted to go to b'lor....i really admire ur guts...anyways whr did u finally get???

"IIT is not everything"----hw hv u come to dis conclusion??....most probably bcoz u cudn't make it thru (no offence though)....
see a hell lot of people arnd u preparing for IIT-JEE....y do they want to get into these prestigious instis??....reasons r many...the first being "media" ....ya i agree wid it nd hv heard a number of times....but hv u ever thought y these IITs r always in news or why media aways talk about them??.....
bcoz these prestigious instis provide "World class Education" at nominal rate.....more importantly these r Govt aided (get lots nd lots of cash every yr), so Govt spend a lot on them bcoz they expect highly qualified engineers frm these instis....nd consequently infrastructure is really awesome....world class facilities, world class teaching methodologies, a very gud study environment, people of different states nd religions get to meet - same mindset, equally brilliant, u get to learn a lot in such environment.....very gud placement records........nd demand of IITians r everywhere (not in India only, but in foreign also)......
suppose a person out of 2 has to be selected....both equally brilliant, one an IITian, the other not....nw tell who'll be selected???.....
most of the IITians u'll find in IIMs......nd people see u wid a different angle.... so what more u want??......tk ne state coll...or private coll....many of these things wud be missing there.....
so man the brand name of IITs is.... ya!...its "everything".....the branch gets diluted in its effect....nd is Metallurgy a bad branch???
oh come on!!....after 20 years u'll find Computer, Electronics engineers in every street of India.....roaming here nd there wid their degrees in their arm-pits......nd there will be shortage of such off-beat branches' engineers (Metallurgical, civil, production, process, Industrial, Textile, Mechanical, petroleum, mining nd all)......at that tym there will be a boom for all these engineers....so man think before u speak ....:)
