As I have been seeing in this website most people are confused about joining in private colleges.....................Actually there is lack of information about the private colleges so let's share all sorts of information about these colleges...........................
First of all what I would like to say is PLEASE DON'T GO ON RANKINGS ............................... why here's a simple answer Look at these rankings
1 IIT Kanpur Kanpur 2 IIT Kharagpur Kharagpur 3 IIT Bombay Mumbai 4 IIT Madras Chennai 5 IIT Delhi Delhi 6 BITS Pilani Pilani 7 IIT Roorkee Roorkee 8 IT-BHU Varanasi 9 IIT Guwahati Guwahati 10 College of Engg, Anna University Guindy 11 Jadavpur University, Faculty of Engg & Tech Calcutta 12 Indian School of Mines Dhanbad 13 NIT Warangal 14 BIT, Mesra Ranchi 15 NIT Trichy 16 Delhi College of Engineering New Delhi 17 Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh 19 Motilal Nehru National Inst. of Technology Allahabad 20 Thapar Inst of Engineering & Technology Patiala 21 Bengal Eng and Science University, Shibpur Howrah 22 MANIT Bhopal 23 PSG College of Technology Coimbatore 24 IIIT Hyderabad
Now just say me how many of you wouuld look at these rankings and prefer joining BIT, Meshra instead of IIIT hyderabad....................................How many of oyu would prefer NIT, Trichy or NIT Bhopal instead of IIT Hyderabad.....................thats why I am say do not look at rankings...............
now about institutes individually
MANIPAL : Disadvantages: Very high fees Ragging : But perhaps management has got strict these days As people say " STUDENTS R AMEER BAAP K BIGDEY HUEY AULAD " Advantages: Extremely good infrastructure Very good record of placements Links with foreign universities..............This is something that many colleges boast of but is simply waste in most of the colleges it's of no use But in Manipal scenario is different. So students go abroad
SRM: Disadvantages :
Very high fees ---- About 9 lacs including hostel charges for CSE, IT , BIOTECH, ..........And 13 lacs for aerospace ...........I had attented it's counselling last year so I have a lot of information
Student quality : Bad ..........SRMEEE is damn easy and most high rankers prefer joining other institutes becos of high fees
Advantages
It is a heaven for people wanting biotech engg..............Perhaps it will feture its name in top 5 institutes in India providing B.tech in biotech
Excellent placements.........in fact more than excellent...........It is rated as 65th best engg college in ratings but in placements it is ranked 26th...............Also it has promised international placements ( that means min 8-10 lacs salary) to it's top 100 students in university exams................AND since student quality is not that good an average student can be in top 100 A wide variety of branches to choose from.............I do not think any other institute in India might be providing Engg degree in so many disciplines
Good infrastructure
One of the most developing colleges in India............It is likely to feature it name in top 25 engg colleges list in coming 3-4 years
Links of SRM with foreign universities are worth
KIITS
Myself from orissa so I have lot of information about it
DISADVANTAGES
High fees: About 7.5 lacs overall in four years including all charges
Advantages
One of the most developing colleges...........KIITS group was started by its owner as an ITI centre...............from the money he got from his dowry...........And its owner would roam on a bicycle but now it has it's law school, management school, engg school, diploma school, and schools for primary and HS education And now it's owner owns a lot of property in AUSTRALIA..........It holds the limca book of records of the college to be awarded deemed status in min period - just 6 tears
It guarantees anfd fulfills its promise of 100 % placement
Its hostel is very good ...........Cheap comared to VIT, MANIPAL or SRM hostel but it is very good and comfortable
Good infrastructure
VIT
What I have heard from most people there is no ragging but 1. Alcohol 2.Cigarettes 3.Drugs 4.Teenage pregnancies I mean very "BIGDA" hua students here
Teaching is not upto the mark
Links r with foreign universities just for name sake............
Even fees is high especially hostel fees ......................
But if you do not get admission anywhere then ......................................
Have a look at this
http://www.goiit.com/posts/list/counselling-about-vit-the-truth-5835.htm
But a few people say it's nice..............most who I know haven't applied for it
Well friends I have given much of the information that I know...............PLZZZ give me information about ICFAI, hyderabad...............................PSG coimbatore...............RV bangalore.......................Amrita coimbatore............Amity , Noida........and other institutes that u have knowledge about........................
Please write more comments on other institutes also

Well , you have done a good analysis.
But I'd like to point out a few flaws.
1)Manipal: "Good placements" It depends on what you mean by good. From what I know , it hasn't got placements which would compare with even BITS:Goa Campus. So what do you mean by good?
2)SRM:International Placements" Please clarify.8-10lpa isn't an intl placement , because it would be too little in terms of $.
3) "Good Infranstructure" You have used this phrase many times. What does it mean?Does it include the architecture/hostels/scenic beauty?Or how well the labs are equipped , LAN/net facilities , supercomps etc?

8-10 lacs per annum means I want to say that if ur not bound that u will get this much salary only I mean to say u get minimum this much amount and well there is no limit for maximum.............And even u start with this much it wont take long to double this amount
Second u compare with BITS goa ..................Getting admission in MANIPAL, SRM , VIT is much easier than BITS goa.......................................................third Well we students r not cared about scenic beauty becos we r not going to join to romance.......................................Well all these institutes do not just keep the huge amounts of money in their pockets.........................All these institutes have very well equipped labs and computing facilities.........Biotech facilities in SRM is unparalled in whole of INDIA............................ NO IIT NO BITS NO NIT CAN COMPETE WITH IT And about post of VIT..............It says that the article has been removed and yes it has been removed but look at the replies of members who will give a very good idea of VIT

Rs. 8-10 Lpa minimum??? I would highly doubt that.
Yes it is much easier to get admission there.
Scenic beauty:Completely agree with you.
"Keeping money in pockets": Well these are all private institutes , and it is highly likely they would like to earn money(There are exceptions like BITS though)
"Unparalleled in whole of India" :Why are you saying this?Which authority has confirmed it?Any evidence? You have said that it can't be matched with BITS/IITs/NITS.Again have you done a comparative study?
VIT is extremely controversial. Many ppl have left them and come to BITS.They have said many negative points. But I have heard good things too.
My point was please provide some data on which you are basing your analysis.Thats all.

Can the guy from BITS Goa come up with some figures about placements there?I am highly sure that the placements from MIT ain't that bad that he can compare with his college.Pilani is an altogether different matter.
And about Ragging in manipal..Its totally non-existent.Seniors can't even talk with their juniors in the first few months..If u club asking names and asking for introductions in the same bracket as ragging then probably yeah..

"Can the guy...about there" Well if "there" means BITS Pilani Goa Campus , then yes I can tell you.I have already posted them on goiit.com. (Search for post "Ongoing Placements..." )
Here is the source (bits360.com/forum)
http://www.bits360.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1197 By the way , this data is for a 3.5 yr old college.
"Pilani is a different matter..." Please explain what you mean by that.If you are implying that BPGC being a very young college wouldn't come close to BPPC , I wouldn't support that.
As for ragging nice to hear that there isn't much in your college.
If you are a student from Manipal , you can clear up a lot of confusion thats there on this forum.

I don't want to start a stupid debate here but I will say that the placement stats are better than your college's stats.Nonetheless for a college which is just 3.5 years old its a good achievement. But yet again you can't just discount the value which the brand attached to your college brings.
