friends pls tell me how is SASTRA as far as placements are concerned?also pls let me know the average package that the students from sastra will receive on completing their btech

What is your AIEEE rank?
Placements don't mean everything, SASTRA doesn't come in top 50 engg colleges of india.

my aieee air is 9805 and i'm from goa.i'm not trying for north nits as i don't think i'll be comfortable there

with that rank you will get good nits and other colleges. try for nits other than in the north, so many of them are better than SASTRA.

SASTRA is good coz i know it very well....as i am from that localty if u r outstanding u will shine definitely rate me if u like...itz got very nice faculty too

yes u have better options available but if u have interest in mechatronics then go for it ,it is quite good

AFAIK mechatronics as such as no scope in india currently.
anyway, i would recommend NITs if you don't want to go to the north.
