Anyway, for your state NIT, 50% seats are reserved.

The rest 50% seats are open to all and admission is through AIR and there are no state quotas.

Here is how the choice avilalablity and the matrix system works.
a top rank guy( say around 1000 air) would have probably given his choices as below :
1. ECE, WARANGAL 2. CSC, WARANGAL ..... and so on

if ur rank is say 4000, and u had applied for the same courses , then in choice status, the number of students above would include the same person in both the choices. for example if ur choice status shows
1. ECE, WARANGAL 45
2. CSC, WARANGAL 55
THEN THE SAME GUY who got air 1000, will be there in both the 45 and 55
but in the matrix, if the air 1000 guy has been alloted a seat temporarily in ECE, WARANGAL, then his option doesnt figure in CSC,WARANGAL. SO if ur availability matrix shows non availability in ece, u might be told of availability in csc.
this is how it works as i infer.

watever choices u fill for the counselling.. they r processed at definite tym-intervals... suppose u gave 6 choices... thn they will b processed on ur prefernc basis... means the one which is higher in ur list will be chckd for u first...if thrs no othr candidate with a higher rank than u, it will b allotted to u... nd thn rest of choices below it... will be discarded... the thng to be noticed is each candidate will be allotted one n only one seat... frm his prefernce list!!

My AIR is 1940. the no of people above me with better AIR for ECE trichy is 13. But with the indicative seat allotment matrix noe published the status is that NIT Trichy ECE is NOT AVAILABLE for me.But there are 24 OP seats for ece nitt. How come this is possible when i am 14th in queue and contention and the course is not available??!!!this is nonsense. I think they have not introduced the new system and going with the old state wise reservation. Somebody help me please!!

ravirashwin, I doubt that's how it works, I seem to be having few difficulties with it.

gkav, I'm having a similar problem, the status (no of AIR candidates) is lesser than the number of OP seats, and yet I have not been allotted a seat. Has this happened to anybody else? CBSE has some stone age technology

gkav and ecthelion, i am having the same problem as gkav. This thing is stupid, its just not possible (either the status or the allotement is wrong).

My status for ECE in NITT is 8, yet the indicative allotement says its not available.

Does somebody know whats wrong?
