my state(H.P.) rank is440 and all india rank is 89789.I am eligible for central councelling-state specific.pls tell me if i can get a govt. college.Pls recommend some good private colleges within my reach.

I think its a bit difficult for you to get Hamirpur. However, don't loose heart. There is a chance that you might get a seta in a good college left by someone.

hey admission to NITs is done only on the basis of state rank..but with AIR 89k,is your state rank 440?? acc to OR n CR details of last year ppl till AIR of 48 k hv got civil in NIT hamirpur in the first counselling..so as "elessar" said,you may get a seat if some ppl take admission n decide not to join..n state specific counselling is for states where competition is vry less..the no of counselles are very less..so they call more ppl who have not actually qualified for the actual central counselling(this year the cut off rank was 51428)..so for example,ppl frm AP who hv got an AIR of above 51428 wouldnt hv been called fr central counselling coz the competition is vry high there n there r aldready many ppl frm AP in the top 50K...bt fr states like HP,Gujarat n TN,ppl with AIR above 51428 hv also been called coz they want to fill all the seats in the first counselling itself..that is why u hv been called fr couselling though your rank is 89k..
