now i understand that there is a lot of confusion among you guys about the cutoffs so i want to make a few things VERY CLEAR..

please read this carefully..

1. THE CUTOFFS ARE NOT DRASTICALLY DOWN..

yes.. the cutoffs are down no doubt but some of you are simply building castles in the air..

last year the 1st iteration cutoff was 304 and WAITLIST was 260..

after all iterations that is the 5th the FINAL cutoff that is for B.Pharm @ Pilani was 260..

now the large gap can be explained.. last year only 2 campuses so the bits administration drawing on SEVERAL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE decided that once people leaving for IIT and etc go the final cutoffs would decrease to this..

THIS YEAR hyderabad has brought 600 more seats.. and cutoff is down by 40 marks.. to be expected .. due to first year and lack of knowledge and prejudice and doubt among aspirants the demand for hyd is less.. so the reduced cutoff..

BUT bits also understand that this hyd seat cud be like the best option for many students.. so they dont expect MANY TO DROP OUT..

so only 16 marks difference b/w waitlist and 1st iteration cutoff..

and NO ! the cutoff for top groups like CS,EEE,EnI at pilani will not reduce by much.. hardly 3-4 marks MAX.. becuz demand for these groups is still very high and A LOT OF PEOPLE have still scored 350+ in BITSAT.. its impossible to predict now because how many of these 350+ students are going to IIT no1 knows...

2. IF YOU ARE WAITLISTED at higher scores like 280-290.. be patient.. you probably didnt put all groups so you didnt get one yet..

you will certainly get one in l8r iterations.. PAY THE FEES AND BE PATIENT.

even if you dont join you lose only 8400.. that is 20 % ..

3. guys around 300-310 etc.. u will get mostly m.sc's @ pilani (and maybe civil and chem) and some higher groups in goa .. do not assume that u will get eni and all becuz u think CUTOFFS ARE DOWN BY 37 MARKS..

4. Yes.. mostly the final cutoff wud be around 250.. bits guys are good at predicting the final cutoff.. so this means there will be HIGH DENSITY in this range..so groups will be decided in very small mark intervals..

5.PLEASE relax... just pay the fees and hope..

cutoffs are very much on the expected level.. there is nothing unusual and worrying in these cutoffs.. it WILL be like this after first iteration..

you will get a very very clear picture after second iteration..

P.S THESE ARE the FINAL scores.. no more increment/decrement.. even if you feel disappointed you cant do a shit about it..

the scores given today are final and will be the score used in ALL THE SUBSEQUENT iterations as well..

Hey bits360 your strange logic is only 20% correct. Your point that cut-offs after 1st iteration has fallen so drastically because over a period of 3-4 years, BITS people now know with reasonable guess that how many are going to finally join. Till that point you are ok. But yr logic that Hyd can be last option for many and so cut-offs will not fall drastically is not correct.

The first cutoff is just an indication. The list after 2nd iteration will clear all confusion. I am reasonably sure that cut-off for all branches in all campus will fall by at least 8-12 marks. Even for CS it will fall. There is no doubt about that.  So relax. Write only when you are sure. My logic for fall in cut-off is based on very obvious factors like increase in IIT seats, AIEEE counselling on AIR rank for 50% seats in NITs and BITS Statistics itself which clearly shows that the paper was tough and only about 11000 people could score above 250 despite good increase in no. of appearing students (may be about 90000 - don' t say it is 1.17 lakh because that is those who have applied NOT appeared). So this year 11000 for 2000 seats as against last year's 12000 for 1400 seats. You can draw logical conclusion.

Don't try to give weird calcualation based on perceptions. Keep that for Engg. course. For the present, be rational, and draw conclusions from very obvious statistics. Best of luck to all.
