hi all (the post is long but PLEASE help)

 

i am 12th passed out student got 92% aggr  in cbse board (94% pcm)

i got 41007 aieee rank 137/360 score (goofed up on d day)

my bitsat score was 222/450

 

i am thorough with ncert physics textbooks and pretty good in problem solving as well

 

chemistry i am good in organic

only a few problems(conceptual) in physical chemistry

and only memory problem in inorganic

 

my weakness is maths(which i aim to strengthen) since i am average in most topics and bad in 3or 4 topics i like maths but just concentrated more on phy and chem in 11th and 12th

 

my aim is to drop and prepare for aieee 2008 and try for the best nits, dce, nsit, iiits

for which i would need a score of around 300/360(or a rank 1000)

 

THE PROBLEM is i cant decide anything before 1st of august

 

now i have three questions for you

 

1. is it possible for me to get 300 if i start prep from august considering my present state in the three subjects

 

2. if yes then how much time on each subject and overall should i spend apart from the 8:00 to 2:00 classes that i will join in narayana(hyderabad narayanguda)

 

3.which books should i use (mostly to practice mcqs nad problems) since i have to be able to crack tough problems as well as with good speed. I  already have TMH phy chem math

Well I think you should be preparing for IIT.

But i will answer as you asked.

Ans 1)To score 300/360 You need a lot of luck in the exam. No amount of preparation would fetch you these marks if luck does not go your way.

 But to get 280 is simple if you start studying from august.I studied after jee exam for aieee and was expecting 284 but as luck did not favour me And due to erasing or rubbing i got 40 marks less(10 questions.).But i did well in bits and got 344 there.

1. Concentrate on speed + accuracy. Solve as many questions as possible cause many question come up direct.

2. Buy as many objective books on aieee and sit out for 3 hrs. and given you have a lot of time do atleast 100 mock papers and nobody will be able to stop from getting under 1000 rank.

 

Ans2) When you feel like doing questions then you assume you are preparing for aieee. And when you do theory assume that you are preparing for IIT or BITS(This time the paper was highly conceptual and lengthy in both)

 

Ans3) Go for Mtg aieee and Arihant Aieee Mock papers. For bitsat I suggest Arihant and mtg.

There is no use of resnick halliday krane as of now. Buy H.C.verma for physics if you can understand english easily.(lolz)

 

Cope up with coaching work as they know what is best for you. And in extra time DO PRACTICE LOADS AND LOADS OF QUESTIONS>

 

You said your maths is weak. Well i say nobody's maths can be weak. Reason:-

 1.People don't study theory which is very important if you want to apply it and for shortcuts.

 2.People don't try to cram maths which should be done in certain cases like co-ordinate (Hyperbola),Complex numbners,binomials etc.

 3.Make maths your strongest subject and you will find yourself in one of the best colleges of india.
