this article is self written n took a lot of tym but here it is finally :
i have written it in the form of an FAQ for easy reading n understanding.....any doubts or u need more info then nudge me
1. How difficult is the MHCET as compared to AIEEE n IIT ?
very ! the portion is exact 50% of the the eee n jee...but dont be under the impression that if u do JEE properly u will be easily be able to crack mhtcet becuz here...amazingly...the questions are more of memory than understanding....and u hardly get any time to solve each question.......kids who get 195/200 in CET are not smarter than a kid getting AIR of 10k becuz the questions asked in cet are of the same kind n if u have solved enough questions......its not that difficult
2. what should i do extra n when ?
cet is in the month of may (fill the form in March/April) after jee u have a month to prepare....take the sanctioned textbooks n read it 2wice a day.....thats all u need to do for getting 170+/200...if u prepare a bit earlier.....u can easily get 175+.......
3. why should i give cet ? which good college can i consider if i get good marks ?
ur cet marks hold the key to asia's best chemical engineering institute......UICT...it admits from AIEEE as well but u need a rank below 8k....n in cet u need around 188+/200....then there are colleges like VJTI SP VESIT which are good colleges by themselves and employers like IBM Google Microsoft do come for placements for comps/it......schlumberger does come for SP VJTI Mechies n cutoff for SP Mech is quite low (160/200 shud do it)
4. what books to use ?
u cud use marvel, himalaya, pradyna, vidyabhartee if u r starting early (say b4 ur boards) n complete 1 book per subject [DONT WORRY CET BOOKS ARE REALLLLY THIN AS COMPARED TO IITJEE BOOKS]...if u r starting after jee then buy
1. Systematic Chem n Fundament Chem for Chem
2. Progressive Physics (marvel books ltd) n Physix (narendra prakashan)
3 Chitale Joshi for maths
mug these three n expect some good returns
5. why should i be giving cet ? i am giving aieee which makes me eligible for 15% seats in all colleges of maharashtra ?
its just to keep ur options open.....n the best part is......there is a seperate quota for OMS Candidates (outside maharashtra candidates) n the cutoffs are reallly low comparitively.....if say instance SP CSE closed at 188 for MS candidates it will close at 175 for OMS n AIEEE of around 10k rank (first round)......second goes lower....third goes lower is vacancies arise
6.when should i fill the form ?
www.dte.org.in
visit this site regularly after February 2009 and read the notice for applying as an OMS Candidate
7. anything else that i must know regarding CET ?
the paper is 200 marks.......the WORST MANAGED PAPER EVA !!
consists of paper 1 n 2
paper 1 has 50 questions of p n 50 questions of c n duration of 90 minutes each for 1 mark (less than a minute for each question)
paper 2 has 50 questions of m worth 2 marks each 90 mins duration(u make a mistake in maths u r in a loss of 2 marks)
NO NEGATIVE MARKING AT ALL
8. who r u ?
i am a student who just gave MHTCET this year.....managed 186/200....a rank of around 375....
i got 18k rank in AIEEE (i hadnt joined any classes....whateva i did was on my own)
n 257 in BITSAT (again, no classes)
If u need more help or more details lemme know
please rate if u feel the article deserves it
