hi ppl,

i saw OUTLOOK'S ranking of top 100 indian engineering collleges and found tht iiit hyderabad was ranked lower than many NIT 's whereas its a college which is very much in demand + its seats get filled with AIR LESS THAN 2000(AIEEE) ....so is the ranking wrong??? ...if ranking is wrong...then may b other colleges are also wrongly ranked...reply soon ...good answers wil b rated..thx

also..many ppl wid 3000-4000 ranks in iit go 4 iiit...

I dont think that there is any problem with the list because NIT colleges are very good and some of them are even better than iit.

i guess no college is better than iit...........ya if sum1 is getting msc in iit then he shud go for nit but they go 4 iiit....wat makes iiit so much in demand despite its low ranking

this is on the basis of my conversation with a BITSIAN.....u may or may not believe it

1. the rankings made by magazines and stuff is rubbish...they take into account teachers/reputation/pay packages etc. which is not wrong but they fail to take into account many other importatnt factors.....for instatnce...NIRMA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY....is unheard for many students...it ranks quite lower as compared to NITs and stuff but it has hosted and won many robotix championships.....the labs and the apparatus provided to them was awesome i heard

2. IIIT vs NIT.......ask urself a question.....do u wanna do research attend seminars get exposed to engineering details and work experience along with flexibilities with portion and semesters ?? then u wanna go for IIIT.....but there is a pri$e :D ....... if u wanna be a normal hardworking engineering student then NIT.....it will offer u research and stuff but i doubt its as good as IIIT......but if u can afford the expense of IIIT H then its definitely worth going to i'd say

3. i am ur junior but still i wud say.......wait till u get ur results.....analyze ur options and ask lecturers of colleges and stuff which wud be a better pick.....askin students is a bad idea cuz they always claim their colleges to better than the best....

4. if u wanna believe the rankings.......believe them.....but in the Outlook survey of top 100 colleges.....DCE / NSIT / UICT / IIIT and IIT's were all messed up....UICT is believed to be the best NON IIT institute for Chemical Engineering in India and where did it stand ?? around 49 !!!!....the rankings may not be wrong but some colleges are definitely messed up

dude, we aint living our whole life in nit or iit. but a part of our life. iiit hyderabad ekdm banjara college hai. bacche kaafi kum hai, n no competition. i mean to say u get all da money n atmosphere for research, but i guess hardly u can compete demm wid iit funded projects. robotics is now a past project dude. japan schools are now funding robotic rojects. in international arena except the iit degree, none is respected. so, we all better stand a chance for some mba or a perfect gre score. once, u get into any college ur soul aim shud be to do well. ranking colleges wont decide ur future, nor wud fighting the system. so, chill n stay focussed !!
