nit jaipur is an average insti in comparison to other nit's....the nit's in 1.warangal 2.surathkal 3.trichy 4.calicut 5.alllhabad 6.rourkela are much better than nit jaipur
coming to IIIT's ..they are dream institutions if u wanna go for IT branches...it has got excellent placements

IIIT-H is an excellnt insti, if u r interested in cs/ece ...n u need to be within 1000AIR for dat..without any quota..
IIIT-A is also gud, bt not as gud as IIIT-H... top NITs r better than IIIT-A ....infact MN-NIT-alld, itself is considered betr than IIIT-A
and NIT-Jaipur is also one of the gud A-grade NITs, ... with gud placements, nd infrastructure!! for placemnts info, check the cllg's site, u'll get the link for it...as for jaipur..here's the link http://www.mnit.ac.in/placement/
@mastermind,i would differ a bit in ur rankings...
trichy~warangal> surathkal>calicut>alld> jaipur~bhopal~ngp
nd at evry equality, u can choose the insti, on the basis of branch..like meta nd mech is bttr at jaipur n nagpur, than bhopal!!

i've checked the NIT-jaipur and IIIT sites pretty much thouroughly. its personal opinion, especially of students studying in those institutions or those who know students studying in those institutions, that i'm looking for. also, obviously all instis would say they're the best on their respective websites. so i need a bit more impartial and factual judgements. thanks for the replies people...and keep 'em coming...

hey jamjam....you're in which year in NIT-jaipur??
i'd like to ask you a few things about NIT-jaipur..
how is the placement there? in cse, ece, and in mech.??
howz the campus and faculty...mainly faculty?
which fields of NIT-jaipur are really good?
also, can you give me a rough idea of what AIEEE-AIR or rajasthan state rank do i require to make it to cse or ece or mech. there?....and i've heard that only 5-year M.Tech. course is offered in cse instead of the regular 4-year B.Tech. course...is this true?...plz help me...
