each NIT has a limited number of seats for each state......so ur state rank (which is nt bad at all), can fetch u sth gud...u can have a fair idea of the no of seats for ur state at this link...
 
and as far as predicting ur chances are thr...its really difficult now...
still if u wish u can go thru the opening and closing rank for aieee-06, that can give u an idea..check this out
