we have many short cuts in maths
like for sum of n terms
put n=1 or 2
similarly in binomiall u can put desired value of r and n
in trigonometry angles can b put as u want them
like in conditional specially
get all a b and c as 60 degree

some tips............

#Some questions may have cunningly designed elaborate answer choices just to
mislead you, like the following.

Qn. The number of tangents to the curve x2 + y2 = 25 through the point (2,3) is
(1) two, given by -12(x2+y2-25) = (2x + 3y ? 25)2
(2) only one, given by 2x + 3y = 25
(3) 0
(4) four
Ans. The given curve is a circle with origin as centre and radius 5. The given point
(2,3) is at a distance 223+ = 13 < 5, the radius, from the centre; hence the
point is inside the circle and therefore no tangent is possible.
Ans choice: (3)
.

#. Verification Technique
Qn. The system of equations???has the solution (x,y,z) =
(1) (2,3,0) (2) (1,2,-3) (3) (0,-1,4) (4) (2,4,1)
Ans. Real solving will be lengthy and not necessary. Verify which set of values satisfies the given equations.

distance b/w 2 parallel lines ax+by+c=0 and ax+by+d=0 is given by

I d-c I / root(a2+b2)
here d-c is in mod i.e. it is always positive

cheers!!!!
and best of luck brainbank.i wish you success!!!!!!

in the expansion of (x + y)12
to get the sum of all the coefficients of the terms, put x = y =1
so the answer is 212

let me extend the formula by ashish

to find sum of even coeff put 1 suppose it comes x

then put -1 it comes y

yjen sum of even (x + y ) / 2

odd sum (x - y) \ 2

a trick in mathematics-
if u are not able to solve a ques by proper method, then put appropriate value in the expression and match it with the options given
really works in ques. like trignometric, etc......
try it.....

Given by splashprabhu

acceleration of a system of bodies.

a = force/ mass ....forces not including tension n normal reaction

eg.

 2 masses attached on either sides of a massless pulley,
  force = m1g - m2g ,
mass =m1 +m2

a= m1g - m2g/m1 +m2

also applicable in rotation,
a = force/ mass

in case of a pulley wid moment of inertia = I &radius r
mass of pulley is taken as I/r2

a = (m1g - m2g)/m1 +m2 + I/r2

Given by chimanshu

1) to find the vel. in b/w the distance travelled

V= {v2  +  (v2 - u2/n)}1/2

2) a bullet is fired with certain vel. into a block of wood . it loses 1/nth of its initial speed after travelling a dist. x in the block . determine the total dist. penetrated by it before coming to rest....
ans)
                   x'   =   {N2/ 2n - 1} x

                               where N is the amt of speed it loses (eg. if 1/10 th loses then N = 10)

Best of the things is to remember and recall the huge pile of formulae you have studied.

rather than solving complete problem of conics or matrices or some integration problem ( if the option none of these is not given)
use trial and error method
best only if u have time and dunnot know the way to do it
