i think the top 4 are warangal,surathkal,trichy and cochin.

Mate, the thing abt almost all nits is the not very good infrastructure, especially the hostel facilities. But, that apart Trichy, Warangal and Suratkal are easily among the top 15 engg. colleges in India and have excellent reputation and recruitment. Also, all state nits have a certain minimum standard and are always a good option if you get a good branch. To follow that up, are Kozhikode, Surat, Kurukshetra, Rourkela and Durgapur in that order. Note that many other engg colleges in various states are better than the later 2 like SSN in Chennai, Harcourt Butler in Kanpur and Shibpur in Howrah. So, if you have options, dont look beyond the first 5 -6 NITs given here . Pls rate this if it has been at all helpful to you. First timer, you see

NIT's dont have good infra go to sleep man , i am enrolled in NIT KKR and we have one of the best campusses , yes it could be better but for fees nit charge it's arnd 40K for entire year + Hostel charges you cannot expect more.

We have good hostels , Computer centre is open 24 hours and there are 200 odd computers with LCD screens, we have a great placement centre and most of our campus is wifi with wireless internet connection , placement wise google and microsoft comes every year that's enough a statemement

i m pretty sure anish_fresh is not at all aware of wat he is speaking

i ve sum frnds in the nits in which he has mentioned it as bad

but they say infrastructure is good.

i really dont understand wat he is speaking and for that crap he has already earned 12 points!!!!!!!!!!

what about nit bhopal ( the oldest of all the NIT's)

1. nit trichy- professors, placement at par with iit's like chennai and kharagpur

2. nit warangal- infrastructure and placement

3. nit surathkal- profs, placement awesome but infrastructure is bad.

4. nit calicut- infrastructure and placement

5. nit allahabad- old collge. got sum excellent professors. not so good infrastructure. old hostels, old beds.. etc.

6. nit rourkela- students, and infrastructure are fine. placement record is good too.

7. nit surat- no idea

8. nit kurukhshetra- professors and dean r gr8. strict regulations.

9. nit jalandhar- placement perfects.

10. bit mesra- admits ranks below all these nit's xcept to the ones who have this collge nearby to their home.
