In the figure a square is given with each side=1 unit. Four points A,B,C,D are taken arbritrarily on the 4 sides of the square and a quadrilateral is formed by joining them with sede lengths a,b,c,d. Find the minimum value of a2 + b2 + c2 + d2 . Will be posting solution tomorrow. Till then give the best solutions to win salutes. All the Best.

( a^2 + b^2 + c^2 + d^2)/4>=(abcd)^1/2
this min is reached when a=b=c=d
when this happens, then a=b=c=d = 1/(2)^1/2
so min value of a^2 + b^2 + c^2 + d^2 is 4*1/2 = 2

your answer is right but the solution not satisfactory.
How can you prove that min is reached when a=b=c=d?
