 If D= a1x+ b1y  a2x+b2y  a3x+b3y      then D=
              b1x+a1y   b2x+a2y  b3x+a3y
              b1x+a1      b2x+a2    b3x+a3

a.     x2 +  y 2
b.     a1a2a3
c.     b1b2b3

Hmm.........i am not sure.but here;s my solution.......

The given condition should be satisfied to all values of x and y.

As a short cut method, put

x=y

or put
x=y=1

The determinant value will become "0" as all the 3 rows are identical.

hence,the answer is "0"

I am NOT sure of the answer,plz correct me if I am wrong.

IF U THINK U CAN, U CAN........IF U THINK U CAN'T, U CAN'T.........

THEN U WILL SUCCEED FOR SURE!!!

your answer is correct karthik but here is the solution:
given DET=product of 2 dets which are
a1 b1 0            x y 0
a2 b2 0 and      y x 0
a3 b3 0            1 x 0
hence the answer is 0.

hey karthik,wen u subst. x=y and the rows or colums of a determinant becum proportional(in dis case dey becum equal n so u get 0)den it means dat (x-y) is a root of the determinant...
hey plzz if i'm rong ,corect me...coz dis is wat i red..
n if i'm ryt,plzz rate me...
