find d no. of ways in which 11 identical apples can be distributed among 6 children, so dat each receives at least one apple.
first give one apple to each ..in 1 way .
left with 5 apples ..
each apple has 6 choices (6 children to go to) ..
hence they can be given in 6^5 ways ..
hence answer = 1 x 6^5 ways = 6^5 ways
the ans is 10C5
let the no of apples divided be
a+b+c+d+e+f=11
find out positive integral solutions of the abv equation to get the no. of ways
hence the ans is
10C5
Better method:
arrange 11 apples in one line.
take 5 sticks and place them in the 10 gaps between 11 apples.
This will form 6 parts with each patr having at least 1 apple.
thus ans = no. of ways of arranging sticks =10C5
