Find the largest positive term of the A.P. whose first two terms are 2/5 and 12/23.
what is the process or procedure behind this to obtain 6 as answer?

The common diff. is 12/23-2/5>0.so,the terms go on increasing & we can't predict largest term.
the method to solve these problems is to write nth term & see for what max value of n,it is +ve.
plz check the question.

u should have question as which is largest term in H.P not A.P.If they r in H.P then only ur answer will be 6 . but can u tell from which book or material u get this question.. solution: 1st term is 2/5=12/30 and 2nd term is 12/23 so series is 12/30,12/23,12/10,12/9,12/2,12/-5,................ so greatest term is 5th term i.e. 6 which is answer.
