How is {x} defined for NEGATIVE x
None

 {x}=x-[x], x>0

What happens when x<0?

for x>0,{x} is written by dropping the integer part and stating onyl decimal part.

ex.for x=12.3213 {x}=0.3213

but we employ a different definition for x<0.....

consider x<0,first find {-x} ....here -x is positive..........

subtract {-x} from 1.

proof::x=p+q  where p is the integer part and  q is decimal part(with negative signs)

x=(p-1)+(1+q)

this is done to maintain consistency ie 0<={x}<1

hence {x}=(1+q)  ie 1+{-x}

ex.x=-12.312-x=12.312;{x}=0.312thus {x}=1-0.312=0.688
