Let us discuss INFINTY..........
None
Hey all goiitians...........I have posted this topic so that everyone out there can just give a definition for INFINITY......pls give a definition from your own thinking and dont just copy and paste anything pre-written...............
I hope some positive response,.....

Yaar. what is there to discuss. It has a simple definition. Infinity is relative term. It can only be defined during comparison.
One example to eleborate my definition- Suppose you want to go to USA from Delhi. U can go via plane, it takes 24 hrs. U will not notice the distane much. But you ask an ant to go to USA from delhi and that too walking not in a plane. Now that distance is infinity for the ant but for us its just a very large number and not infinity.
Hope U understood.

Mujhse kya pooch rahe ho. Even the greatest mathematicians are not able to define 0/0. That's why its one of the 7 indeterminate forms(whose value cannot be known).
If U think that 0/0=infinity, U are mistaken. There is no defined value of 0/0 till date. May be in the future, someone will find its value.

Infinity is not any number or something like that....it is just a symbol meaning 'undefined' ....... it is not any arthimetic number (and that is the reason why we cant use mathematical operations on them like multiplication , division etc..)
and also sometimes we people say tan 90 is infinity ..but it is wrong...tan 90 is undefined

Well, infinity is an undefined quantity strictly speaking. In Physics, it assumes a relative role. For eg. a distance of 1micron from the centre of a 1 square metre sheet maybe viewed as infinitely large because the sheet expands indeterminately on either side from that distance.
In Maths, it follows its regular definition of truly being undefined. In limits, many questions have their limit as "infinity", purists say that the limit is undefined while quite a few say that the limit is infinity.

Infinity is the biggest of all numbers
Bt u may then think if we add 1 to it we again get infinite
even infinite + infinite= infinte
So actually m also nt too sure
bt still it can be taken as the biggest possible no known to mankind!!!
WOW NA!!!!

Lets see,
infinity and undefined are two different things. For example,
0/0 = undefined and 1/0 = infinity.
Because, 0/0 in common language means divide nothing into no part and 1/0 means that how many times do we add nothing to obtain 1, which can go on forever but we will never get any answer.

Infinity is a number larger than the largest [ or smaller than the smallest( - infinity also exists) ] number anyone can think of.
The symbol used for infinity is also used to express terms that are not defined. like
0/0 or x/0 or tan(
/2), etc.
Hence, not defined should not be confused with infinity

anything divided by 0 is NOT DEFINED
any expression involving infinity is also NOT DEFINED
eg. 0/0 , 1/0 ,infinity , infinity x zero , 0/infinity etc...
but
(no. tending to 0 / no. tending to 0) is an indeterminate form....
similarly...
(no. tending to infinity / no. tending to infinity) is indeterminate
0 /no. tending to inf is exactly equal to 0
(no. tending to 0 / no. tending to infinity) is a no. approaching 0...
and so on...

INFINITY is
one more that the limit of KNOWN numbers
eg.if u think 100000000000000000 as ur last number of ur counting limit
and then add 1 will be infinity
and if you add 1 more
then on adding 1 more will be ur infinity
and so on............
so INFINITY is 1 more than your known counting limit

Hey md_2674062, something/infinity is never equal to zero but is only approximated to be zero,
Suppose 1/10 = 0.1
1/100 = 0.01
1/1000 = 0.001
Like this you go on forever,
You will start to get 10-99 , 10-100 , 10-101 and so on. Thus when we take this to infinity, we start to assume it as 0.

I define INFINITY as a symbol that represents the largest no. which anyone can imagine...........
pls post some more definitions.......
